Are they coming out with a new album? Yeah, they might be since I've never heard this song before.

I was worried this was a ballad. Oh well, this is better than most of the stuff of Elocation.

I'm liking this song. IT really sounds like it'll be a hit on both Alternative and Pop.

Getting off to a decent start: 59 49 DEFAULT Count On Me 259 178 81 After "Taking My Life Away" came out, I didn't think they'd be able to get another lead single on the chart.

Er... not sure. I like it, but it sure sounds like sell-out material. Guess I'll reserve judgement for awhile.

Default sold out on their second album.
That being said, I like this. It has more to it than Taking My Life Away.

It's strange , but this somehow sounds like a hair metal song to me.

Yeah, it really reminded me of Def Leppard when I first heard it.

This song, the first single from One Thing Remains, due out on September 27th, is decent by Default single standards. Not as good as the stuff from The Fallout but better than the stuff from Elocation. It was also produced by Chad Kroeger, and I can definitely hear his touch on the track.
As for the band in general, Default technically sold out on their first album. They've always been a radio rock band, right from the get go. Wasting My Time was huge because it was a tailormade radio hit. Elocation was actually not as radio-friendly in my opinion, plus they lacked in harder stuff and focused more on slower material on Elocation, which definitely hurt them since The Fallout made it big on rocking songs like Wasting My Time and Deny. I hope that they learned from Elocation's low sales and have gone back to their earlier style.

When reflecting on the past year in music and thinking of how sometimes re-releases can benefit artists as they have for Gavin DeGraw and Howie Day, Default immediately came to mind as one artist that I feel could actually benefit off of this single being re-released strictly for CHR/Pop and Hot AC; especially with Nickelback hitting huge right now.
Default benefitted off Nickelback's popularity during the "Silver Side Up" era with "Wasting My Time" impacting the CHR/Pop Top 10 while "How You Remind Me" was still being overplayed and the band getting exposure in that it was on Kroeger's label.
I think the only way Default can ever hit again is if they take advantage of Nickelback's popularity...and this would be the perfect time to attempt to do so.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Sincerely, Noah Eaton It would be nice to see them push this at the other formats, they don't seem like the kind of band Alternative is going to accept anymore. This song reminds me so much of Nickelback's "Savin' Me." They might as well push it somewhere, how high did this go at Alternative?

I like Default a lot and I believe their new album is taking them in the right direction. this is the only song Chad helped write (or at least got credit for). if they distance themselves from Nickelback and Chad, I think they can be big!
