00 NE 01 Me Against The Music Britney Spears f/Madonna 38 38 00 1(1) 1 Woohoo This marks Britney's chart debut on the video chart, but this is nothing new for Madonna, seeing as her past videos American Life & Hollywood both topped the chart for 1 & 2 weeks respectively... this is very good seeing as the video debuted on TV on Tuesday & it's already a #1 video on Pulse... excellent... strangely it only beat Jewel's Stand by 1 point, & it continues the trend of videos spending 2 weeks at #1 in a row knocked by a video that would soon on spend 2 weeks at #1 & etc... but overall.... what a great treat... also debuted at #20 on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown this week This is also the first video to debut at #1 since Mariah Carey's Bringin' On The Heartbreak which would soon spend 3 weeks at #1. Also think this is one of 4 videos to debut at #1: Red Hot Chili's "Can't Stop", Monica f/Missy Elliott "So Gone", Mariah Carey "Bringin' On The Heartbreak", & Britney Spears f/Madonna "Me Against The Music"
Droppers:
04 A Toast To Men Willa Ford f/May, Peak #4, 1 week on the chart
05 Going Under Evanescence, Peak #3, 6 weeks on chart
08 White Flag Dido, Peak #3, 5 weeks on chart
10 So Yesterday Hilary Duff, Peak #6, 6 weeks on chart
Summary:
And the collaboration power of the princess & the queen of pop has triumphed! They snatch the top of the chart this week but oh so close having to put up a fight with Jewel numerous times! But in the end, even though they won by 1 point, they by far have the most talked about video of the week & this video will hopefully atleast do well as "American Life"(Peak #1(1), 8 weeks on chart) & "Hollywood"(Peak #1(2), 10 weeks on chart). And especially seeing as we have a hot topic with Britney being able to defeat her rival too, but Christina has done especially well with "The Voice Within" but we'll get to her later Anyways, "Me Against The Music" is obviously my favorite video of the year & will hopefully achieve mega success in the future in all radio, video, or any other chart fame Britney's debut video on this chart already going to #1 & all of Madonna's chart entries in this one has of course went to #1. But enough about them, let's go to our still excellent video which proves about not backing down... despite losing 15 points, Jewel's "Stand" almost looked like it would become our #1 video of the week for the third week in a row... but could this do an "Intuition" which bounced back & forth to #1 many numerous times I lost count... If she was almost able to defeat Britney & Madonna, then we'll look to have loads of chart battles in the top 2 between them in the future ;) And now onto our other chart starlet, Christina Aguilera debuting at #3... have alot to talk about her... first off, this is her third chart entry... "Fighter" also peaked at #3 for 3 weeks & overall spent 10 weeks on the chart becoming a massive video hit for her.... her followup video "Can't Hold Us Down" did okay but nowhere near "Fighter"'s success.... "CHUD" only peaked at #7 & stayed on the chart for 1 week... but there's something special about this video... I don't know... perhaps there's the simple simplicity about this one... if this could outdo the former, can it be able to be as big as her biggest? Who knows... wait until the weeks pass by And our third female pop star of the chart, Mandy Moore just keeps on rising with her video for her cover of "Have A Little Faith In Me" despite only gaining one point rising up 3 spots to #4... could this also be a #1 contender in the future? Next up, Outkast reenters the top 5 again despite losing 3 points with their fun 60's vibe Beatlesque video for "Hey Ya"... the big rock video for "Stacy's Mom" drops 3 spots to #6, Beyonce's "Baby Boy" takes a huge drop in both positions & points with it dropping 5 spots to #7 & losing 22 points! It held the runner up spot 3 seperate times for 3 weeks... a really big video hit but just couldn't get the #1 song... poor Bouncy ;) And the video vixen of Mya returns! After her huge video for "My Love Is Like...Wo" spent 2 weeks at #1 & spent 12 weeks on the chart, her followup for "Fallen" charts only a few weeks later to debut at #8? Could this followup be able to follow its predecessor & make the #1 spot as well? Well Jewel's Stand debuted at #8 with 17 points so I don't see why this can't do so as well Though I was sorta expecting the other Fallen song by Sarah McLachlan to debut:P Our last & final debut & with their chart debut comes to the all girl pop band, Lillix with their video "Tommorow" debuting at #9, while Michelle Branch is struggling to hand on with "Breathe" falling 1 spot to #10 on its second week out... and becomes our bottom end of the chart.
