NE 01 01 Me Against The Music Britney Spears f/Madonna 56 18 38 1(2) 2 And by far, Britney & Madonna are the queens of the countdown with a huge lead... 19 points over the current #2 which already was a former #1 obviously! Me Against The Music ties the number of weeks Hollywood spent at #1 & secures Madonna's place as the artist with the most #1 videos on R&R/Pulse(AL, Hollywood, this)... it keeps on growing on MTV, VH1 & the video made it's #28 on Muchmusic Top 30 Countdown... all I gotta say is... let it rise, let it rise, let it rise.... Also, I'm pretty sure this song has like the third biggest point total for a #1 of all time(Intuition once had 58 points a week it was at #1, & the #1 all time record holder: Can't Stop, Red Hot Chili Peppers with 66... but it was on the first week of the chart where everything got confusing ) So far, this video follows another pattern of the #1 videos in a row that spent 2 weeks at #1 in a row... will a new video knock MATM from #1 next week? We'll see ;) But for now, we'll wait to see if MATM breaks any more records anytime soon
Droppers:
07 Baby Boy Beyonce f/Sean Paul, Peak #2[3], 7 weeks on chart
09 Tommorow Lillix, Peak #9, 1 week on chart
10 Breathe Michelle Branch, Peak #9, 2 weeks on chart
Summary:
And of course the power of Britney Spears & Madonna reaches new highs this week... the collaboration of both just keeps on rising & rising... achieving perhaps one of the biggest leads over a #2 ever... 19 points seperate #1 from the #2, though as you can see besides #1, it was very close to determine a position from #'s 2-10... I think Sheryl Crow perhaps has the biggest number ever for a #10 with The First Cut Is The Deepest... the lowest for a #10 is a tie: #10 Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes & Beer For My Horses - Toby Keith & Willie Nelson both only had 8 points... & it was both when 1 person put it at #8 on their listed video chart. Anyways, as said above... Britney & Madonna rule this chart by far... I wonder how many weeks at #1 this can spend... only the future can tell us soon ;) But anyway, let's move on to the #2, Fountains Of Wayne, who makes a huge rebound to #1! Just about matches the time from when they hit #1 with around that same total... Stacy's Mom has proven to be one of the biggest male rock videos on Pulse... don't remember a rock video this big on the chart since Coldplay's "The Scientist"... but anyway... we have a Canadian excellent divine female artist who has the top debut this week: Sarah McLachlan with her brilliant video for Fallen debuting at #3 this week, very deservedly so for this video as I adore how simple & dark it is... definitely a great mood for this Fall season... but as said, she had midweek #2, & all of #2-#10 had perhaps the closest in rankings ever! Overall, big congrats to Sarah & I hope "Afterglow" has great success :) And it looks like Christina still holds on well... "The Voice Within" becomes one of many videos here to drop positions but gain points... & her simple video for "TVW" gained 7 points this week! Proving to be a simple stable stayer already matching the peak of "Fighter"... but can it stay the same length of time as "Fighter"?(10 weeks), well "TVW" already outlasted "Can't Hold Us Down" which peaked at #7 & spent 1 week on the chart. I still think it should have been snowing when she ran out of that room btw But anyways, don't fret for Jewel, it was heavy competition this week... she only lost 2 small points resulting in a 3 spot drop to #5 this week for "Stand". 5 weeks on the chart... hmmm... only 12 more to go to tie Intuition's run ;) Next up, Mya's Fallen is off to a great beginning with it rising up 2 spots to #6 & increasing 16 points... who knows whether this can do a "My Love Is Like...Wo"? And we have a big reentry this week, as Hilary Duff's So Yesterday reenters at #7 with a huge point total, 33 points.... this is the 3rd reentry for So Yesterday. First reentry: #8, then fell to #10 then off... second reentry: #6 then fell to #10... third: can she fall to #10 again next week? And onto a #8... very interesting case for this one... it may look bad from its drop, but the good news is that it increased 6 points from last week... shame the heavy competition had to bring her down But she achieved a very well deserved top 5 video with her nice cover ballad :). Following Mandy's footsteps, Outkast also does the same thing falling 4 spots to #9 but gaining 8 points from last week! :o How long can Outkast be able to stay still? "The Way You Move" only spent 1 week in the chart peaking at #4, but "Hey Ya" outdid it by 4 weeks ;) And finally, at the bottom of the chart, we have a very well deserved entry for Sheryl Crow's cover of Cat Stevens "The First Cut Is The Deepest". The video reminds me of Britney's "Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" but seeing as it was directed by the same director: Wayne Isham. So I'm not surprised... again, as I've said above, biggest point total for a #10... meaning the chart was extra strong this week Overall, tight lock pointage was key this time.
