02 02 01 Fallen Sarah McLachlan 55 8 47 1(1) 4 And she does it, after being held off the top spot for 2 weeks, Sarah McLachlan's video for Fallen finally knocks Britney & Madonna's video for Me Against The Music which only falls 1 spot to #2 with 4 points behind. Frankly, Sarah waited much less than Coldplay's The Scientist to earn her #1. Well deserved I might say. Well done for her also rising 3 to #7 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown & for her CD Afterglow notching a second week at #1 in Canada. So far the video for Fallen has ironically not Fallen not 1 bit in points or positions, since it has been gaining for weeks & weeks since it's month reign chart run: 3-2-2-1... she thankfully didn't suffer a Beyonce "Baby Boy" as well... oh well, MATM still ties the record for the video with the second most weeks at #1 with TLC's Damaged, but still they're down but I doubt they're out... much competition to the female pop star duet vs the Canadian songbird... it has certainly outdone my expectations anyway, hehe... and by far, she has outdone the other Fallen by Mya, whose chart run was: 8-6-6-off
Droppers:
09 Breathe Michelle Branch, Peak #9, 4 weeks on chart
10 Someday Nickelback, Peak #10, 2 weeks on chart
Summary:
Oh look who's risen to #1 after having to wait her turn the past 2 weeks, it's Sarah McLachlan! After 3 years out of the spotlight, she's returned with the glorious video for Fallen which was able to finally defeat the mega double deeds of Britney & Madonna dominating the top spot for a full month.... Sarah's first #1 video(well since this chart started in April 2003, duh), & perhaps the best long awaited return we've had in a while by far... Afterglow is becoming a big success for her nearing 500K in the US in 2 weeks... she's risen out of one, floated so high She's our Canadian queen at the moment... outta the way Shania, Celine & Alanis Next up, though they've fallen 1 to #2, they still have 51 points, which would make it about the 4th week in a row they've had 50+ points in a row, still very high in the year end chart if I could find those old archives... Britney & Madonna also fall 2 to #15 on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown so I perhap this chart had to respond on that matter as well Still a very impressive chart run though: 1-1-1-1-2... and I still don't doubt their chances of getting more weeks at #1 seeing as Jewel's Intuition certainly never had a problem with that falling & rising to #1 numerous times in the past eventually getting 6 weeks at #1 in total... funny enough for her now, she's way in the end of the chart, but we'll get to her later... Britney & Madonna had to fall sometime as on you're on top, there's no way to go but down if you're at #1, so it was expected... anyways, Canada's Piano Queen proved to dethrone the Pop Queen & Princess: our top headline... next up, at #3, Sheryl Crow holds on steady with The First Cut Is The Deepest holding on but gaining a huge 12 points to 46! Very massive for a #3... chart run for her: 10-4-3-3... very nice for her, can she still hold on to the top 3? Also very cool for her to have a strange rebound on VH1's Top 20 rising back up 3 spots to #14... she proves to make a little cover video look as special as it can get... speaking of rebounds, after 3 weeks on falling & falling as she goes, Christina Aguilera's video for The Voice Within rises back up 4 spots to #4, getting back into the top 5 again, it's weird chart run so far: 3-4-5-8-4.... so overall, just about a little bit or a bit more steady... so far, this video has had half the length of the run that Fighter's had on the chart, can it make it? Who knows? Next on up, another video that had a rebound, Outkast's Hey Ya! rising back into the top 5, again risng back up 2 spots to #5... having the longest weeks on the chart honor again tying with Jewel for a video. Been on the chart for 2 months only peaking at #4... had a very impressive little rebound for the past month or so... plus, this video also rose up 2 spots to be VH1's official #1 video of the week Who'd ever think the occasion where a rap(rap related) song would ever do that since Beyonce's Baby Boy? Very amazing... for our next 2 videos, oh well, those 2 rebounds pushed them out of the top 5 despite gaining points.... No Doubt's It's My Life video gained 2 points but fell 2 spots to #6... should be much much much higher of course.... but atleast they rose up 4 spots to #8 this week on VH1's Top 20 Countdown... top 10 on Vh1 I could easily also name this video as Gwen Stefani & the boys best imo also.... and plus for the Dixie Chicks, they fell 2 spots to #7 despite gaining 2 points as well... still did very well popping out of nowhere outdoing my expectations as well....this one had a strange chart run on VH1's Top 20 Countdown though: 20-19-off Now we have the first of our 2 debuts from the biggest female solo rapper of all time: Missy Elliott debuting at #8 with her fabulous video for Pass That Dutch... this would be Missy's 3rd entry I presume... Gossip Folks peaked at #5 in Spring 2003, while on So Gone featured on Monica's smash hit made #1 on the chart for 1 week... so very very proud of Pass That Dutch debuting but even more proud that Evanescence debuts on the chart with their beautiful haunting black & white video for My Immortal... easily their best song & video yet... this also marks the 3rd chart entry for Evanescence on the chart: Bring Me To Life peaked at #3 staying on the chart for 9 weeks & Going Under also peaked at #3 staying on the chart for 6 weeks.... could this video follow the pattern of a top 3 hit for them? Hope so, but deserves to outpeak them both... excellent excellent ballad.... YAY And finally, at the bottom of the chart, when she was at the top of the chart 5 weeks ago, Jewel's Stand falls 4 spots to #10! Already at the end, having spent 8 weeks on the chart, that's practially close to half of Intuition's run on the chart spending 17 weeks... though Stand did marvellous for a followup video, & of course a very beautiful colorful video... leaving with again: one of the biggest & best videos of 2003... full chart run so far: 8-1-1-2-5-3-6-10... a very nice chart run if I do say so myself....
