06 04 01 It's My Life No Doubt 63 17 46 1(1) 4 Oooh, and No Doubt breaks the record for having the second biggest number of points for a #1 this week after Red Hot Chili Peppers' had it with Can't Stop just 34 weeks ago. Britney & Madonna had done 62 last week, so now they're the 3rd to have done this... but congrats to No Doubt megaly as It's My Life also rises up 2 spots to #2 on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown. Plus good for their album debuting at #2 on the Billboard album charts(shame midweek figure sales from HDD had them at #1 though :() Also a very nice chart run for No Doubt to do before they reached #1: 4-6-4-1 Easily a very very high number for No Doubt to accomplish... as I've said before, No Doubt are my favorite group/band, so it's all great Great comeback for them seeing as Running never made the chart during from when I started it. Brilliant video & I doubt I'll ever get sick or overplayed of it like I was with Hey Ya.... excellent cover, excellent... I prefer it more than the original(most don't, but whatever). Gwen Stefani rules, plain & simple And also blocking Sheryl Crow from her rebound....
Droppers:
05 The Voice Within Christina Aguilera, Peak #3, 6 weeks on chart
08 My Immortal Evanescence, Peak #8, 2 weeks
Summary:
Wow, what a week for videos losing points here... No Doubt was the only video to actually gain more points this week than last week! With It's My Life deservedly so zooming up to #1, they put a reign to Britney/Madonna's 5 week spread at #1(of course the second most weeks at #1 behind Intuition) & by a large margin, they had huge seperation from the #2 by a whole of 23 points! It's My Life of course broke a record this week & deserves all the hype it can get... much needs to be No Doubt's 4th #1 CHR/Pop single imo as I prefer it more than Hey Baby & Underneath It All but not so sure of whether I prefer it more than Don't Speak. I just love the whole plot of this video... Gwen's hair has never looked this radiant before & she's never been so intriguing before to the eyes before this video imo... It's My Life is definitely the top cover song of 2003 & the video is easily among my top 10 of 2003.... next up, despite her gaining up 4 spots to #2 looking as if she was able to make a charge for the #1 spot after 2 weeks peak at #3 & falling to #6, Sheryl Crow's The First Cut Is The Deepest(hey a cover song top 2! ) lost 2 points from last week... still a very nice number of points & a very nice way to prove that this video has had staying power: chart run: 10-4-3-3-6-2*(very nice trick)... this video was also finally thankfully able to make top 10 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown rising 1 spot to #10! :) Big big hooray for the woman who's Strong Enough to be Anything But Down Big yay for Sheryl.... next up, the top debut of the week, after many weeks of closely making the chart before is Blink 182's Feelin' This debuting at #3 with a nice hefty 38 points... nice comeback for them but they've had better songs & videos than this imo... a very interestingly top debut for them, could this be the strength of a future #1? Next up, after making so many headwaves last week, Britney f/Madonna's Me Against The Music lost 30 points & falls 3 spots to #4. It's done pretty well though this is the first time ever since it's debuted that it hasn't been in the 50+ point range and they were at their peak last week with 62 points(as obviously No Doubt broke that with 1 point ahead)... though still it's done very very very successfully: 1-1-1-1-2-1-4... still top 5 & still has an excellent huge number of points in total... also still doing well holding on on VH1's Top 20 Countdown where MATM stays still at #13 after 7 weeks on the chart as well... and Britney has the #1 single & album in the world so nothing wrong with her.... next up, despite losing 6 points, Outkast's Hey Ya returns to the top 5 rising back up 2 to #5 being the longest runner on the chart with 10 weeks... from the past month it's chart run has been 7-5-7-5... interesting... this video's only peaked at #4 & has had an excellent hold.... Outkast Andre 3000 is basically everywhere with this song, #1 Hot 100, #1 CHR/Pop, #1 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown for 3 weeks with this song... wow... I'm seriously burnt out on Hey Ya & far moving onto The Way You Move... which also peaked at #4 but only had 10% of the chart run as Hey Ya! did... who in the world doesn't know Hey Ya! at this point... #1 Pulse 100 as well & was #1 on our last PeopleBase.... & after peaking last week with huge points, poor Missy "Misdeameanor" Elliott falls a big 4 points to #6, trading places with Sheryl Crow & even worse, she lost 31 points from last week, 1 point more than Britney's decrease.... wow... her This Is Not A Test! album only debuted at #13 on the album charts & Pass That Dutch didn't do so well... a great song & a great video which was a nice hit... I wonder if it can last onto the chart a bit more.... like this video more than Work It imo.... and this is the woman who's getting ready for her comeback to launch into full speed: Alicia Keys... and it lost no points this week at all though it rises up 2 spots to #7! Very good for her... she also rose up 3 spots to #17 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown & I'm starting to see the brilliance of this song as well... soulful from start to finish... that phone call interlude in the song & video sorta ruins the whole thing though.... and we are getting ready to see if "Diary" can repel her to the success she achieved before & let's see if she can get another #1 album & single this time hopefully :) And another woman who is also a piano goddess, Sarah McLachlan plunges 5 spots to #8 :'( Losing a big 28 points.... she literally lived up to her song title this time after rising up every week before she fell to #3: chart run: 3-2-2-1-3-8, OUCH! And she even rose up another spot to #4 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown.... YAY! And Afterglow returns to #1 in Canada for a 3rd week with it already selling 172,000 copies there(1.72 million equilvalent in US)... Fallen still a beautiful song & a nice video... I don't wanna see it leave that soon :'( Anyway, next up... finally the video chart has been anticipating this one for a long long time with Milkshake debuting at #9! Before this video had just as many points last week but couldn't debut cause the other videos had narrowly more points than her, but she finally made it! :) Yay for the excellent star at the moment, Kelis... hope she makes #1 Hot 100 as I don't see myself looking to be burned out by this.... yay :) And finally, at the bottom of the chart, the Dixie Chicks had excellent hold with Top Of The World staying at #10 only losing 2 points... chart run: 5-7-10-10... nice for them... liked how Natalie was at the VH1 Big In 2003 awards... she took all the boos & accepted her "Big Quote In 2003" Award about Bush proudly & a big yay for the Dixie Chicks... they are divine!
