Today, WUJM Gulfport-Biloxi switched from hot AC to classic country under its new name 96.7 Hank FM. Hank now joins Bob, Jack, Joe, Dave, Sam and Alice among the family of radio stations naming themselves after first names. Ironically, Hank's previous name was Molly. Looks like Jerry Springer will be showing up soon.

Well, Hank makes sense for a classic country station. After all, Hank Williams is one of the pioneers of classic country.

What are these?
There is no univesal format to Bob. There's a Bob in North Carolina that's CHR, while others like the former Bob 99.3 in San Diego was country. Dave is a AAA station in Atlanta. Sam is a country station in Fayetteville, AR, and that's rather fitting since Wal-Mart is headquartered in nearby Bentonville and Wal-Mart's founder is the late Sam Walton. Alice is primarly hot or modern AC. BTW, there's a Ted-FM in Columbus, OH. I believe the format is AC.

Classic Country seems to do really well in the south.

Classic Country seems to do really well in the south. It's pulling some incredible numbers in Laurel-Hattiesburg, Meridian and Baton Rouge.
