Janet makes a huge resurgence, becoming the longest running #1 of the year to date. Tamia also makes moves back towards the top. Frankee plummets as predicted.

As for falling off, both of those songs are noteworthy, as they enter at #3 and #4 on the year-end tally (excluding songs which are still on the chart).

My process is highly organized now. So I can tell which songs are doing better in the long run. So far Alicia Keys has the #1 of the year; Monica won't get it even though she's been on the chart a long time-- she'll end up 10 top or maybe top 5. Watch out for Janet though! As well as Usher.

Chart Commentary:

Blink-182 [barely] edges out Lp for their first #1 since the chart began. Hoobastank has done it again. Earlier in the year "Out of Control" jumped 17-8, one of the rare occaisions where the Greatest Gainer was inside the top 10. This week, they have outdone themselves. "The Reason" takes Greatest Gainer in a landslide, gliding up 17 spots to land at #6. Yellowcard makes their first appearance in the top ten this week, while Jet rebounds with CHB, up three to #10. I ordered their cd from BMG for $2.99, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Jay-Z continues his run with "Dirt Off Ya Shoulder," one of the most successful rap songs not from an artist named OutKast on the chart. Alicia slides backwards 16-18 with "If I Ain't Got You," but manages to maintain her bullet.

"Broken" looks to be the "Hero" of this spring, as it rises a respectable six spots to #21. It's vaulted to almost the half-way point of the chart in just three weeks. Surprisingly, I still actually like Avril Lavigne's new song. This week it picks up momentum, rising five spots to #27.

Of the three debuts last week, Incubus is the winner in second week gains. "Talk Shows on Mute" rises eight spots to #31. Meanwhile Kimberley Locke makes a respectable five spot jump to #32, and The Offspring start off slow, up three to #37. LP's new single, "Breaking the Habit" rises five spots to #33 in its third week. Meanwhile, their other new single, "Lying From You," is resting at #14 this week.

Two new songs debut this week. The first of which comes from Alanis Morissette, who debuts at #36 with "Everything." The second is the Kanye West single, "All Falls Down."

Well, while most people say that the consistent charts look more like a mess, I feel that this one looks the most like a mess of any of my charts, ever.
The Moz Man is one to watch for. One of the best songs out right now. I can't stop listening to it. I will move up Postal Service for however long. It's doing better than "District Sleeps Alone Tonight" did last summer.

Icon of Coil have an awesome title, especially if you're an industrial fan: Machines Are Us.
I've been familiar with Alicia's one for a few weeks already, but am just now getting it on, as much as I love it.
Jay-Z's and Crystal Method's relatively big drops for the week are deceiving.
This week I've paid more attention to new actual singles, so watch the next one for actual effectiveness.
