SURPRISE!
Impatient ones can skip to the bottom to find out what the headline is talking about. Otherwise, feel free to follow this week's chart.

55 66 Britney Spears - Outrageous 550 +300
54 55 Shifty Featuring TC - Slide Along Side 634 +16

TW LW WC Artist - Title PK Spins Change
52 50 30 Evanescence - My Immortal #3 717 -117
53 44 24 Jay-Z - Dirt Off Your Shoulder 11 642 -292
--- 31 02 Diana DeGarmo - Dreams 27 0 -1374
50 --- 01 Jadakiss Featuring Anthony Hamilton - Why? 50 750 +750 *INSTANT IMPACT* *CO-GREATEST GAINER*
The first of 3 debuts this week, and also tied for greatest gainer this week. Ties for greatest gainer don't usually happen, but this week, it did. This is the first single with him as lead artist to chart.
49 51 01 Twista Featuring R. Kelly - So Sexy 49 862 +137
The second of 3 debuts.
48 54 01 Counting Crows - Accidentally in Love 48 868 +231 *HOT SHOT DEBUT*
I thought it possible that this might make the chart, but I was not expecting it to come in as Hot Shot Debut in doing so.
47 45 04 Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying 45 934 +16
Not a typical way to have a hit single - normally, if you have a bullet, you're supposed to move up. ;)
46 49 02 Ryan Cabrera - On the Way Down 46 947 +102
45 46 02 Ying Yang Twins Featuring Trick Daddy - What's Happnin! 45 975 +75
44 32 25 J-Kwon - Tipsy #3 1005 -355
43 24 20 Avril Lavigne - Don't Tell Me 16 1027 -1028
End of the road for Don't Tell Me...
42 40 06 Beenie Man Featuring Ms. Thing - Dude 39 1032 -82
41 38 07 Trapt - Echo 34 1087 -87
40 42 05 Finger Eleven - One Thing 40 1141 +108
39 41 04 Black Eyed Peas - Let's Get it Started 39 1206 +144
38 34 06 Jessica Simpson - Angels 33 1207 -107
37 47 03 Ciara Featuring Petey deleted - Goodies 37 1212 +337
36 39 04 Alicia Keys Featuring Tony! Toni! Tone! - Diary 36 1215 +84
35 43 05 Lloyd Featuring Ashanti - Southside 35 1234 +216
34 37 06 Nickelback - Feelin' Way Too Damn Good 34 1253 +46
33 25 04 Fantasia Barrino - I Believe 24 1431 -581
She only debuted at #24 because that area of the chart was VERY competitive that week, whereas when Clay Aiken debuted at #18 earlier this year, that area of the chart was not very competitive at all. (Actually, it was quite weak at the time.)
32 33 05 Monica - U Should've Known Better 32 1464 +136
31 36 05 Avril Lavigne - My Happy Ending 31 1496 +203
30 48 02 Nelly Featuring Jaheim - My Place 30 1600 +750 *POWER PICK* *CO-GREATEST GAINER*
It's probably dumb luck that this matched Jadakiss's impact of +750. One thing of note is that #30 is higher than any of Jaheim's singles have yet reached.
29 35 04 Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved 29 1875 +575
This is looking much like This Love Vs. Tipsy from earlier this year - This Love passed Tipsy after each had only been on the chart a month, and Tipsy chased This Love up the chart in vain. It's not a given that the result will be the same this time at the rate My Place will likely go, but for now, that's the scenario.
28 28 10 Kanye West - Jesus Walks 28 1895 +105
27 23 13 Mis-teeq - Scandalous 20 1944 -444
26 30 03 Lil' Flip Featuring Lea - Sunshine 1996 +603
25 21 16 Twista - Overnight Celebrity 11 2013 -564
24 22 15 Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue 22 2134 -285
23 27 05 Terror Squad - Lean Back 23 2140 +209
22 29 05 D-12 - How Come 22 2320 +580
21 26 04 Houston Featuring Chingy, Nate Dogg, & I-20 21 2343 +406
20 17 15 Outkast - Roses #7 2517 -767
19 20 10 Lloyd Banks - On Fire 19 2805 +195
18 16 18 Beyonce - Naughty Girl 1 (1) 3051 -351
17 14 21 Mario Winans Featuring Enya & P. Diddy - I Don't Wanna Know #2 3307 -358
16 19 08 Ashlee Simpson - Pieces of Me 16 3328 +422
15 18 10 Los Lonely Boys - Heaven 15 3397 +153
14 13 19 Petey deleted - Freek-A-Leek 10 3413 -263
13 #9 28 Usher Featuring Lil Jon & Ludacris - Yeah #1 (11) 3767 -168
12 10 26 Maroon 5 - This Love #2 3771 -122
If this doesn't provide proof that "Yeah" will end up #1 for 2004 on this chart, I don't know what will. "Yeah" is more than 20000 ahead of "This Love" AND about 45000 ahead of "The Reason", while its spin total is increasing at the same rate as TL's and about 1000 less than TR's. What this means is it would take TR 45 weeks to catch "Yeah", if the rates were to stay the same. And 45 weeks later? That's next June.
11 15 09 Juvenile Featuring Soulja Slim - Slow Motion 11 3786 +313
10 #5 12 Britney Spears - Everytime #5 3823 -273
It's only downhill from here for "Everytime".
#9 12 22 Switchfoot - Meant to Live #9 3865 +35
They are not just entering the Top 10 now - two weeks ago, they were also #9. But last week's surge of Nina Sky, Christina Milian, and Kevin Lyttle proved too much that week. As for their bullet, it does look like it is finally about to run out.
#8 11 20 Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You #8 3990 +159
She and Switchfoot have been jockeying for position for the past month/month and a half. Surprisingly, her bullet might outlast Switchfoot's, as she has never lost it yet (but has come close), and she's still going on R&R.
#7 #8 10 Nina Sky Featuring Jabba - Move Ya Body #7 4126 +174
After leading the upward charge for awhile, rivals Kevin Lyttle and Christina Milian have passed on by, likely leaving Nina Sky out in the cold.
#6 #7 12 Christina Milian - Dip it Low #6 4205 +245
Given the state of things now, she could be vying for #1 soon. You'll see what I mean...
#5 #6 07 Kevin Lyttle Featuring Spragga Benz - Turn Me On #5 4231 +219
Same situation as Christina, except he's ahead.
#4 #4 12 JoJo - Leave (Get Out) #4 4335 +114
I don't know if she'll have a chance at #1, because I think her bullet will run out too quickly.
#3 #3 12 Usher - Confessions Part II #3 4535 +115
But being 200 spins closer to #1 gives Usher a better chance at a 3rd #1. But what of his second? That question can be answered right now:
#2 #1 20 Usher - Burn #1 (7) 4724 -124
Amazingly, out of nowhere, "Burn" has surrendered the top spot. To who? The answer should be obvious:
#1 #2 19 Hoobastank - The Reason #1 (1) 4733 -84
After looking like it had no chance in hell of hitting #1, "The Reason" uses "Burn" 's downward trend to its advantage, passing it in the process and taking #1. This is much similar to when "Bring Me to Life" hit #1 for a single week in July 2003 when "Get Busy" couldn't hold out any longer. But does this mean that "The Reason" is doomed to a single week on top? Next week will tell the story...
Impatient ones can skip to the bottom to find out what the headline is talking about. Otherwise, feel free to follow this week's chart.
