OMG! I can't wait to hear this. They are definately one of the most under-rated groups. They kick ass on CD and CONCERT! I can't wait to hear this!

The album is rumored to be out sometime in September, but I'm betting it gets put out in early October instead since the single doesn't go for adds until late August and usually albums are released over a month after the first single. Meanwhile, I can't wait for this. Shinedown is one of the better bands that popped up in 2003 IMO, and I hope that their new album is as good as Leave A Whisper. Ever since I heard Fly From The Inside on their website I knew they were going to kick ass and they haven't let me down yet. Then again they are still fairly new so there's plenty of time for things to go downhill.

This will take off pretty good on AR... I hope Alt gives it a chance.

I started off with a fairly bad impression of them, until "Fly From the Inside" eventually grew on me. "45" and "Simple Man" were good at first, but burned out on me rather quickly. Then "Burning Bright" was one I liked from the first listen and held up for quite a while. So in all, they've gone 4-for-4 on my personal top 50 chart, with a top 10... so I'm actually kind of interested in what they're coming with this time.

This song sounds quite a bit like Be Yourself. Be Yourself has to be the worst Audioslave single, no wait I take that back "Your Time Has Come" was released.

And just like I predicted, the album comes out October 4th. It's called Us And Them, which they say is supposed to refer to the band (us) and their fans (them).

So it doesn't reference Pink Floyd?

I am really not impressed with this song. It was as if the members said - "Quick, Brent, we need a hit single and we need to record it in 10 minutes. Quick!! Write us a hit song and let's go!!"
Also, how many references to other songs does lead singer Brent Smith have to make in this song?
First off, how many artists have used the title "Save Me" in their songs? (See: Remy Zero, Unwritten Law, many more). He also references "Wasteland" (10 Years), and something about "tak(ing) away all these pills", which clearly reminds me of "Bottom of a Bottle" by Smile Empty Soul.
I just don't understand why this is taking off so quickly, with gains still between +150/200.
Also, I agree with PikPak. It sounds like an exact carbon-copy of "Be Yourself".

I've heard this song several times and I've never thought it sounded like "Be Yourself", much less like a carbon copy. Furthermore, if I had a nickel for every band that made a reference to another song either on purpose or accidentally, I'd have a million dollars. And with the kind of references you're drawing from this, it sounds like you're just hunting for them. I'm really sure Shinedown was thinking "hey, that 10 Years song is good, maybe we should mention a wasteland in our song too!" when they wrote this song. C'mon. There's a right way and a wrong way to be stupid. Don't make the wrong choice, J.

To me, Shinedown are just generic post-grunge rock. That doesn't make them bad, but that doesn't make them anything terribly special, either. I'll still listen to them if I have to. Oh, yeah... Whoa, back up before you start dissecting people's opinions, jackass. That's going to take you a lifetime. I said the song sounded like "Be Yourself" and I'm sticking to it. The tempo, structure, and melody are very similar. The majority of my friends would agree that the song sounds unoriginal. Quite frankly, defending Shinedown so vehemently just looks dumb. mms://66.186.0.101/allaccess/shinsave.wma boss.streamos.com/real/interscope/audioslave/audio/00_stay.ramJudge for yourself. I'm tired of this assclown lurking in the bushes just waiting to tackle someone who states an opinion that might be wrong.

The only thing that sounds like "Be Yourself" sounds is the guitar riffs. Otherwise, it sounds much, much more aggressive.

Dear J, I didn't say you were wrong for not liking the song or for comparing it to "Be Yourself". By the way, I've heard both songs before, thank you very much, and I still don't know what you're talking about, and I don't think that will change, and just so this cock-measuring contest can be tied, my friends agree with me. However, I'm not trying to tackle you. I am just pointing out that your reasoning for attacking Shinedown is incredibly faulty. If you had just said you didn't like the song, then you wouldn't have looked nearly as stupid as you do for suggesting that simply having sole words (not lyrics, but words) that are also in other songs is a sign of unoriginality and a reason why this song is bad. - Sincerely, the jackass in the bushes

OK, point taken.
I apologize for being rude, as I was. I really don't like this song or this band. Many things they do are unoriginal, and that is why I do not like them. However, the same could probably be said about bands like the Strokes or almost any other successful alternative band. That is, of course, a matter of opinion only. This song could, in fact, end up growing on me, much like other songs I once loathed have.
So while I will stand by my opinion, even though you may consider it stupid, I apologize for the rudeness and didn't mean to cause unrest on this board.
So, fair enough, and I apologize.

Ahem.
Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends
I seen ya I seen ya I seen ya ’round for a long long time I really I really I really remember when you drank my wine
Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends
I seen ya I seen ya I seen ya walkin’ down in chinatown I called ya I called ya I called but you did not look around I pay my I pay my I pay my money to the welfare line I seen ya I seen ya I seen ya standing in it everytime
Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends
The color the color the color of your skin don’t matter to me As long as as long as long as we can live in harmony I kinda I kinda I kinda like to be the president And I could and I could and I could show you how your money’s spent
Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends
Sometimes I don’t speak right But did I know what I was talking about I know you’re working for the cia They wouldn’t have you in the mafia
Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends Why can’t we be friends

This is better than all the other "Save Me" songs, ok maybe not as great as the Smallville song but way better than that crap by Unwritten Law.

While I don't hate this song, Damageplan, Remy Zero(who you're thinking of), and Unwritten Law all have superior songs called "Save Me."
I'll give you Dave Matthews.

I like this song, think it sounds nothing like Be Yourself, and also do not think its wildly original...but hey, what out there is completely original?
