I hope thats not a rumor, I'm always excited to see an artist that decides to go for a 5th single.

I hope Green Day takes advantage of their popularity right now and chooses not to make a radio edit. That would be just about the coolest thing ever.

I don't think Green Day is going to make a radio edit themselves. I think radio stations are going to make their own edits though.

The radio edit is six minutes long and includes all parts, just shortened.

The last time I listened to the song, I unintentionally noticed many "good" places where radio could shorten it and still have all the parts included. Hopefully I will pinpoint them and write 'em down or something before I hear it on radio, to see if Reprise and Nick's minds think alike.

I remember playing around with the song in Cool Edit, and I managed to get it down to about 7:45.

I'm surprised they didn't want to just cut off parts IV and V. Seems to me the fade at the end of part III might trick a few people listening for the first time into thinking it was over then and there.
I think KNDD's just going to stick with the 9-minute version though, which they played on Friday's People's Choice Countdown. That, of course, is awesome.

Not sure which edit you're referring to, but there is a real 6:30 edit on some UK promos.

I just saw the 9-minute version of the video and I think it's incredible. Easily the best AI video, IMO. Hopefully, with WMUWSE falling, a JOS adds date should be announced soon.

I saw the video for the first time today on MuchMusic. I was glad to see the warning message that MuchMusic had put on before playing the video. Parts of the images were just a bit too strong.

Any word on when the video will air in the US? I know they just added a video for "St. Jimmy" to MTV, MTV2, and Fuse.

I am really loving this song right now, which is odd because it was just almost a year ago that I first got into it. Then I kind of abandoned it after "Boulevard..." took off.
The video is very well done, a treatise on teenage suburban ennui up until the powerful ending, and leaves you wanting more. I can't see it going unedited on MTV though, which is a shame. I'd much rather see warnings on it than have it edited or banned.

I saw the video on MuchMusic yesterday, it's great! Reminds me of the double-video that Greenday had for "Brain Stew" and "Jaded"

Green Day - 'Jesus Of Surburbia'It does say something about the confidence of a band like Green Day that they can release a nine-minute long single, made up of lots of little, brilliant songs - any one of which Blink 182 would've killed for - in a kind of musical patchwork quilt, and no-one thinks it's, like, a betrayal of their punk rock roots. Naturally it helps that the band's songwriting skills are on fire right now, and Bille Joe could sing the instructions for a vacuum cleaner and make them sound like a call to arms against the government. But even so, jaw-droppingly good work, fellas! *****/5 stars" From BBC's TOTP.

I'm confused. Have they decided to release every song from American Idiot as a video? Because I saw "St. Jimmy" on Fuse the other day on the Rock Countdown and "Jesus of Suburbia" and one other song I've seen as well.
"Give Me Novocaine" apparently goes for pop adds in January. Is this song even going for adds here? In my opinion, they should just stop now while they are on top. They've already waited too long to release a fifth single since the reign "Wake Me Up...". So what's the deal here, is "Jesus of Suburbia" a fifth single or "Give Me Novocaine" or both? What does the future of this album hold?
Also, don't release a song directly to pop...let them cross over when they get the chance. Just, please, don't.

"St. Jimmy" is only for promoting their live DVD.

I guess they are devoting more time to promoting their DVD and Bullet in a Bible than releasing songs to radio stations at the right time.
They probably figure that they can wait about a month too long to release a fifth single and it would be fine because of a) the DVD and b) the album is already epic at this point. At this point, I guess its: who really cares?
I disagree with releasing "Give Me Novocaine" to pop. Not because I feel they will lose alternative credibility and it might hinder their future success here (which, even if "GMN" hit #1 on pop, wouldn't happen). I would just rather listen to it on my local alternative station than hear it between PussyCat Dolls & Chris Brown over on pop. They are catering to their pop audience too much, especially after releasing "Wake Me Up...", even if there is no chance of ever losing their alt. fans.
Anyway, are radio stations playing the full version of this song or are they only playing the first part?
I agree wholeheartedly. I still need to give the entire album three or four more listens to really make sense of the story, because, at this point, I'm clueless. I could make a topic about the entire "storyline", but I'm sure I could just get more information on the internet anyway.

The video is debuting in the US tonight at 8:30 on Fuse. It's being called the "world premiere" even though it's been online and released internationally for a while lol

Oh My. They're releasing the video just now in the US? Why so late? Anyways, the video version should have been shortened cause everytime this video starts i change it because i don't wanna sit thorught 9 minutes of a video. TOOO long.
