Kasabian is one of my favorite bands of the year too but if the first two singles didn't do much this won't either.

I still can't believed Kasabian smashed in the US. It's not like their singles were horrible...but maybe that's just my opinion.

The quality of a single and how well it will do just about never has anything to do with each other. I think there are two reasons why the stuff is actually not doing well:
1. Over-emphasis on the more established artists. 2. They aren't part of a stateside trend.

1. Over-emphasis on the more established artists. 2. They aren't part of a stateside trend. Yep, that's exactly it. This format really has no desire whatsoever to move forward. If that wasn't the case, we wouldn't have 80% of the top 50 golds being from 1991-1995, in a time when everything up to 2002 is eligible. Those damn songs just keep getting older, while the sonically fresh new bands (such as Kasabian) keep on flopping. This has to end somehow, someday, though. I mean, seriously, what's Alternative going to do in 2030? Are all the stations still going to be playing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" 10 times a week? That'd be just like Pop stations playing Elvis all the time today.
