Which songs surprised you by their great or lackluster performance on the charts??? What did you think originally?
No Doubt f/Lady Saw - Underneath It All --glad this hit #1, definitely was a darkhorse for #1 at one point
Christina Aguilera f/Lil'Kim - Can't Hold Us Down --utterly disgusted and shocked that this managed #3, whereas the superior "Fighter" stalled at #5
Mandy Moore - Have A Little Faith In Me --having had the honours of most added, i'm surprised this barely cracked the top 40. Just goes to show you that the pop chart has really changed.
Liz Phair - Why Can't I? --also another one of those surprises, it's great this has finally cracked the top 20. In fact, I was afraid this would stall in the 30s.
Shania Twain - I'm Gonna Getcha Good! --the first single and surprisingly, completely ignored by pop radio. What a shame.

Unwell-Matchbox Twenty
I did not expect this song to do that well. I liked it, but figured if the hoppin' "Disease" didn't score huge nothing would.
Disease-Matchbox Twenty
To me this was a top 5 easily. I was really surprised by the animosity some people had for this. This was like another "Smooth" to me only with a bit more soul to it.
Hey Ya- Outkast
I know it isn't done yet, but I never expected this. I love this song, thought it was different and fresh, but wouldn't catch on.
Times Like These- Foo Fighters
A song perfectly suited to pop, and a great song. The Foo Fighters are even considered pretty cool, so what happened? I never got why this didn't do better.

Suga Suga- Baby Bash feat Frankie J This is a great song, but it still surprises me how the combination of two un-established singers can result in such a big hit. The fact the song itself is taking off in huge ways is enough prove to substantiate that the song got to the place it is today based on its own merits. I still didn't expect the song to do this well, nonetheless.
Low- Kelly Clarkson Coming off the back off Miss Independent and the huge AI craze, there is no reason why this song should flop. No reason at all. Not only did this song fail to reach top 10, it had an over -900 fall during its demise. Ouch.

Suga Suga by Baby Bash is such a great song IMO. Me Against The Music by Britney Spears I thought for sure that this song would do well since it has a lot of R&B/Hip-Hop fans really liking this song & video.

"Don't Mess with My Man" ~ Nivea Whoever thought this would to Top 5 when they first heard it?
"Angel" ~ Amanda Perez I'm so surprised this went to #3, even though I do like it. Although I think there was a bit of payola involved.
"Goodbye to You" ~ Michelle Branch I thought this would have gone to #28 or something. I am glad radio accepted it though.
"Why Can't I?" ~ Liz Phair I have to agree with M.

Christina Aguilera "Beautiful" I orginally thought that this song would probably do better than "Dirrty" but i did not expect it to blow up the way it did! I thought it was risky of them to release "Beautiful" next even thought Ballads weren't really that big before then. So the sudden success was a big shock to me.
Pink "Trouble" I am surprised at how bad this song did. Even though i really didn't like this song at first listen, i thought it would do good on the charts, but boy was i wrong.
Avril Lavigne "Losing Grip" Shocked that this one didn't go into the top ten when i thought it would've gone top 5, but seeing how a lot of songs by female artists have done horrible in the last year, this one doesn't even seem as bad as the other cases
Kelly Clarkson "Miss Independent" I honestly never thought this song would become this big as well! I thought it would have an "A Moment Like This" type chart run, but now this song is one of the biggest of the year!
Justin Timberlake "Rock Your Body" I was surprised that this song peaked higher than the better "Cry Me A River"! I knew the song would go top 5 but i would've never guessed topping the chart for 5 whole weeks!
Matchbox Twenty "Unwell" I thought this song was bland right out of the gate, but it sort of grew on me, and even though it never made my top ten chart, i would say it was a pretty close call. And it's chart run did surprise me, i started liking it the more i heard it. I thought it would peak in the 20's

I thought it would barely crack the top 50, But I'm glad it peaked at #15.
[glow=red,2,300]Maroon 5- Harder To Breathe[/glow]
I'm shocked this made top 10. >:(
[glow=green,2,300]Avril Lavigne- Losing Grip[/glow]
I thought this would be top 10, too bad it flopped. :'(
[glow=orange,2,300]Justin Timberlake- Senorita[/glow]
I thought It would flop, glad it was a hit.

Seether - Fine Again : I thought this song had a good vibe to it. And could've possibly had some crossover success. It's a very good song imo and I thought it would do very good across the board
Saliva - Rest In Pieces & Always : Both songs should've been huge on chr/pop. I am still baffled on why they didn't blow up like 3DD or Staind >:(
Dixie Chicks - Landslide : I have never heard a DC song on my local chr/pop station until "Landslide" came out. It did farely well on the pop chart and I was surprised I thought this song would get overlooked
Fountains Of Wayne - Stacy's Mom : I am so confused on why this song is # 3 and climbing on the charts. It is a song about wanting your girlfriends mom. Something isn't right there.

I was also surprised by this one. Of all Dixie Chicks songs to hit the pop chart and do well, I would have not expected this one. Maybe "Goodbye Earl" or "Cowboy Take Me Away."

Also I should add there was a song by Bone Thugs and Harmony that sampled Phil Collins and they even used him in their video. I was really surprised that didn't make waves on pop. I expected it to be a huge hit.

Trapt - Headstrong: I thought there was no way it would even make top 50... yet it's now almost top 5!
T.A.T.U. - All The Things She Said: Thought it would barely crack the top 40... to my surprise, it went top 10!
Madonna - American Life: I thought the hype would send it straight to the top 10... but it only got to #25 and fell flat off the face of the earth.
