Their new album '100,000,000 Bon Jovi fans can't be wrong' just came out and I think it sounds awesome. Of course a biased opinion here. To let fill the unknown people in, there are four audio cds and a dvd. Its huge and has mostly new music too. If you've heard it, what do you think? I hope they come out on TV more to perform.

They are currently not on CHR/Pop. If you would have posted this let's say uh in 1987, it may would have been a little more pertinent, now it belongs to perhaps, "Your Opinion Please" format. Do they have a song that's going for adds. And, uh, BTW Welcome to the Pulse Music Board! :)

I'll be picking this up with Collective Soul's new CD tomorrow. I'm not too excited about it though since their last album, "This Left Turns Right" is an absolute disaster. They're much better off in the studio working with big name producers. Right now, John Shanks is working with the guys on their next studio album due next year. That should be something special.
As for the group's catalog, very few other bands can match it. Twenty years and later and they're still putting out great material. The only other 80's acts that have held up as strong over time are U2, Metallica and Madonna. They have outlasted REM, Michael Jackson and many others as far as commercial success goes (critical success is another story, but who really cares) Personally one of my all time favorite bands.

Bon Jovi is okay. I'm not into their rarities though, so I probably won't get this. I actually haven't really like their last couple of albums, yet it's hard for me to abandon them since they and Def Leppard are about the only ones from the 80's metal scene still going, and it looks like Def Leppard may be done.

I still like them, but I think they're past their prime. It could've been just the sound at the venue, but I think that Jon Bon Jovi's voice isn't as strong as it was before. He sounded pretty weak at the AMAs.

I like Bon Jovi but am not a huge fan. Bon Jovi does much better commerically in Europe than they do in the US now. Kind of like RHCP and REM. Strange how that has worked out.
Didn't they play a new song at the AMA's? I don't recall having heard it before.

Good in the 80s, but rather crappy in the 90s. The songs they had in the 2000s like "It's My Life" and "Misunderstood" are a little better.

They played a medly of 2 old songs at the AMAs. "It's My Life" was one, and I forget what the other one was.

In the U.S., Red Hot Chili Peppers can still hit #1 on alternative quite often. R.E.M. can still hit #1 on Triple A. Bon Jovi can't do either.

Maybe he was talking saleswise. REM's sales have been terrible in America recently, havent they? Or am I misremembering?
Anyways, Bon Jovi-my first secular concert. Looks good for being in his 40s. Makes catchy music.

I don't even think RHCP's greatest hits album did all that well in the US last year. I doubt that it went much more than platinum (anyone know?). I bought my copy, though.

I have a strange relation with Bon Jovi. Their music is definitely not what I'd call my cup of tea. Still, if you play some of their 80s anthems, I will happily sing along. Yeah, I know: it's called nostalgia. :) I still have a vinyl copy of "Slippery When Wet" with me. It was one of my 8th (or was it 9th? ???) birthday gifts. :) It takes me back to my childhood in the late 80s. Then grunge happened and subsequently my music taste also took a turn and I started embracing edgier stuff. But, in all honesty, I never lost my poppier side. Maybe that's also why I'm not really ashamed to admit that, yes, I liked Bon Jovi's music once.

In the U.S., Red Hot Chili Peppers can still hit #1 on alternative quite often. R.E.M. can still hit #1 on Triple A. Bon Jovi can't do either. That's an oxymoron. RHCP hits number 1 on Alternative cause of payola, plain and simple. Bon Jovi's label don't need to pay for play cause their cd's sell regardless. They choose to spend marketing money in a different way and it works for them. People need to realize that the number 1's on radio reach number 1 cause they are paid to do so and that's the bottom line. Bon Jovi could EASILY hit number 1 on several formats if their label chose to pay for it.

The only problem I have with Bon Jovi is that they always perform "Its My Life" at award shows and live specials on tv. Like, I really want to hear something new.

My favvoite was "Living On A Prayer" and I really didn't like anything else. I gotta listen to some clips of their non top20 hits.
