As for the Beastie Boys, Ch-Check It Out was their first #1 at alternative. So yeah, they had a pretty damn good year. I'd have to disagree here. It's true that Beastie Boys got their first ever #1 from "To The 5 Boroughs", but it also tapered off the chart evry quickly. In fact, I think it went recurrent just before falling from the Top 50 on Alternative. "To the 5 Boroughs" also didn't sell well. "Hello Nasty" was a huge multi-platinum success. "To the 5 Boroughs" only went platinum, and I think JUST sold a million domestically. Jimmy Buffett had a better year in comparison. "License to Chill" wasn't exactly the hit release I thought it'd be (I thought it'd be the Country Story of 2004) but it was a minor success nevertheless, continuing his streak of releases going at least gold by going platinum, and more than doubling the sales of its predecessor "Far Side of the World" Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I'd say Usher. Because Usher has been out a long time and technically he's a vet.
