I'm so shocked no one made a topic on this. But either way, I think there should be because this forum is kidding itself without a mention of U2's new album.
Anyway, I wouldn't really consider this their best work, although a pretty good one. I really love it, but I really think that what made U2 have an impact is that in their time they were able to move things forward. These last two albums are too much like they made it for the fans of their vintage stuff. Not that it's a bad thing, but it does disrupt some of it from what it is.
The songs themselves are pretty good, even though nothing else was as heavy-hitting for me as "Vertigo". I'll do a report card/rank thing later.

Just bought it today at Sam Goody for $11.99. Good price. It's actually selling for $9.99 on their website. Not sure about the shipping cost though. Haven't given it a listen yet. But definitely want to see them on tour next year.

I really didn't care for their predecessor, but man, this new one is so good. I'm lovin' every second of it.

I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle because if I had 13 spare bucks lying around, goodness knows I'd pick the album up. Alas, food and school (well the former at least) are more important.

Hey, did your CD have video footage too? I just bought it but haven't opened it yet. I could swear the display at the store said something about DVD video footage included, but the CD wrapper doesn't say anything about it. Did yours have a sticker or anything?

There's 3 different versions. There's just the CD, which retails for about $13, the CD + DVD version (which comes in a standard jewelcase), which retails for about $22, and the special limited edition package which includes the CD (w/ an extra track, "Fast Cars") + DVD + Book, which retails for like $40.
On their weekly ad Best Buy said they'd come out on Tuesday & they'd be selling them for $9.99, $16.99, and $24.99. So I went today to get the special limited edition (I'm a sucker for deluxe packaging & limited edition releases) as an early Christmas present to myself, only to find it back up to the regular price of $35.99 and they said that the first weekly ad was only valid Tues. and Wed. and there was a new one with the after-Thanksgiving sales. Which made me mad. But it was okay, since I went to Coconuts and they still had it on sale for $24.99.
I haven't put in the CD yet but this weekend the Triple A station played most of the tracks and I like them all better than "Vertigo." The one I remember liking the most is "A Man and a Woman."

It's not as good as All That You Can't Leave Behind but it's a very solid album. It's not a direction change what so ever but "Vertigo" might be their best single since "Mysterious Ways". I mean what do you expect it's U friggin' 2 and they will probably keep pumping out good records for the next decade or two.

From what I've heard of All That You Can't Leave behind compaired to what I've heard of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.
Bomb blows All That You Can't Leave behind right out of the water.
The Edge seems to have taken charge with the musical direction, and for the better.

I liked the previous album way better. This one is okay. I like Vertigo, Yaweh, and Sometimes You Can't Make It ON Your Own. I'm still not feeling the other songs very much.
AYCLB, I loved from top to bottom. At some point, I might feel the same way about this album, but I just hate it when the first single blows you out of the water and then there is absolutely nothing else like it on the album.
