An oldies song that has the same beat, as Imani Copilas(sp) "Legend of a Cowgirl"
and one of Mary J. Bliges songs samples the opening song of the soap opera "The Young and the Restless".

Usher's "Do It To Me" sounds like Prince's "The Beautiful Ones".

Star 97 (Hot AC in Nashville) played "Funky Cold Medina" by Tone Loc during Friday Night 80's and all I could think of "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner. (I started this topic on the old RR board...wish I had done so on this board!) :( :)

Yeah, that one's pretty obvious to me too... it always bugged me when people said the guitar riff in "Funky Cold Medina" was taken from Free's "All Right Now" instead.

The music in "Sunrise" by Norah Jones reminds me of the music in "Strong Enough" by Sheryl Crow.

I just heard "Shorty Doo Wop" by Baby Bash for the first time and the beginning especially reminds me a lot of "Refuse To Dance" by Celine Dion.

Janet Jackson's "Spending Time With You" sounds like Glenn Jones's "Stay".
Janet Jackson's "SloLove" sounds like Prince's "Letitgo".

Usher "Burn"
"let it burn, let it burn, let it burn" sounds like "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow"
Seven Wiser "Take Me As I Am" reminds me of Trapt "Echo"
"Echo" is a slower version of "Headstrong". (Trapt on AC, anyone ? ? ?)
Let's lose Wisconsin...Hope the Badgers lose in round 1 of the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

I don't know why I think this, but the beginning of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" sounds a heck of a lot like... Nirvana's "Rape Me".
Oh, and has anybody yet mentioned how much Sarah Connor's "Bounce" sounds like "Family Affair" by Mary J. Blige? ;)

Here's one I just noticed...the introduction of Chad Kroeger & Josey Scott's "Hero" sounds a bit like Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters". And the opening drum beat of "Hero" is similar to that of Lenny Kravitz's "It Ain't Over Till It's Over"...

The verses of Steven Curtis Chapman's recent top ten Christian song "Moment Made For Worshipping" remind me of those of "The Living Years" by Mike + The Mechanics.

geoguy mentioned in one thread that J-Kwon's Tipsy sounds a lot like Clipse's Grindin'. Totally agree.

I haven't been reading this thread but one I have found very easily is Jay Z "Moment Of Clarity" and Eminem's "Lose Yourself". But someone already probably said that one

Angel City "Love Me Right" sounds like Ready For The World "Oh Shiella". I'm not sure if it's a direct sample, but either way, they sound alike.

Here is an interesting one
The beginning of Britney's (genius track) "When I Found You sounds like Aerosmith's "Dont Wanna Miss A Thing"

"This Love" by Maroon 5 reminds me of a song that, for the life of me, I cannot quite figure out. I did see some resemblance between that and "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)" by Billy Joel, but that's not the song I'm thinking of. Can anyone help me figure this one out?

Not a sample, more of a gender-switched remake, with the original's chorus removed. The chorus of Robbie Patton's "Don't Give It Up" sounds a lot like the chorus to "Everlasting Love" by Carl Carlton (or Gloria Estefan, or Robert Knight, or Rex Smith & Rachel Sweet... choose one).

Yeah, when I first heard it, I thought it sounded like something from the late '70s... I couldn't think of any specific song though. Maybe that's it. It just doesn't sound like the stuff that's charting right now and frankly, I'm surprised it's doing as well as it is. But that's cool; we don't need another "Hanging By A Moment" at number one for the year (like many people think "This Love" is going to be). Anyway, something similar happened in 1990. When "Tonight" by the New Kids On The Block hit the charts in the late summer of that year, several people who went to college swore that it was a remake of a song by the Beatles. However, while it wasn't a remake of any particular song, it sounded a lot like something the Beatles should have recorded, sort of like "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel sounds like it should have been recorded by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, especially, when Billy turns one-syllable words with the long I sound into three syllable words (ti-yi-yime, mi-yi-yind, etc.)

All Day Long I Dream About Sex by JC Chasez is a blatant rip off of that song by The Bloodhound Gang...Discovery Channel?

The choruses of "Love Will Lead You Back" by Taylor Dayne and "No One In The World" by Anita Baker sound very similar, IMO.

"Lying From You" sounds like "Somewhere I Belong"
Fefe Dobson "Everything" --"Under the Bridge" --"Give A Little Bit Of Your Love to Me" --"Head Over Feet"
Avril Lavigne "Don't Tell Me" --"Long December" --"Losing Grip" --Spice Girls "Goodbye"
"Slow Jamz" verses sound like "Dilemma" verses.

I was listening to a 1984 AT40 this weekend and I heard "Come Back And Stay" by Paul Young. That sounds vaguely like "The Voice" by the Moody Blues.

"Lying From You" sounds like "Somewhere I Belong" Actually, I don't think LFY is as close to SIB as Numb is to Crawling. Seriously, they're practically the exact same song musically.

The opening of "First Cut is the Deepest" (Sheryl Crow's version, anyway) sounds like the opening notes of "The Heart of the Matter"

That chalks up two hits that resemble "Heart Of The Matter" ("Breathe Again" was the first, mentioned on the old R&R Message Boards - Toni Braxton singing "Breathe Again, Breathe Again" sounds like Don singing "Even if, even if...."

Here's one that mst3k pointed out on the England Dan/John Ford Coley topic. Their big 1978 hit "We'll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again" sounds a lot like a slightly faster version of David Gates song from the same year (and same season), "The Goodbye Girl".
