This will now be their third single from Lullabies To Paralyze and goes for adds on October 3rd. I just hope this does better than In My Head.

I really think this was not a good choice. They should've gone with Everybody Knows That You're Insane or Tangled Up In Plaid IMO.

Hey, didn't I make a topic of this a few months ago? Anyways, it was just speculation; at least you have a good source.
I really like this song, and always knew this should've been single #2 (I obviously know it wasn't). This should definitely do better than "In My Head" which I still don't understand how or why it was released.

I bet that this song, like In My Head, will never have a week where it has more spins than the recurrentitis that is Little Sister.

This should definitely do better than "In My Head" which I still don't understand how or why it was released. I dunno, maybe cause it was catchy and memorable and enjoyable and Burn The Witch isn't? Then again these are the same stations that are making Franz Ferdinand such a huge success so I guess I don't know what's going on anymore.

Does anyone know where it peaked?

I don't think it was recurrentitis that hurt "In My Head", seeing that "Go With The Flow" was able to go top 10 despite "No One Knows" spending multiple weeks at #1 and having amazing longevity. But at the same time, I thought "In My Head" was perfectly radio friendly, so I'm not sure what happened with that. #32 I think.

Thanks Mega. I'm really ignorant chart-wise, but that doesn't seem all that great, right? Anyways, this ("Burn The Witch") is my favorite track off the album I've heard, and I hope it gets released and does well.

I do think that there is some hope for QOTSA. Right now they're on tour with NIN, which may be help for them commercially.
But then again, the Mars Volta were a second-billed band with SOAD and "L'via" didn't even chart... but this is more catchy and less overlong IMO (but wasn't the "L'via" radio edit only like four minutes?)

I liked "L'via L'viaquez" way more than "The Widow", but I understood why it didn't do all that well. I loved the Spanish music mixed with the rock; it was just beautifully done.

Hey, that's fabulous. Where was this third single when it actually could have gotten somewhere (read: Off their previous album)?

This song totally reminds of Primus' Brown Album.

Better than "In My Head", but it already looks almost done (and yes, "Little Sister" is getting more weekly plays than this one too).

I'll give a billion trillion dollars to the first person who can give a good reason why this is better than "In My Head".

Well of course. ;) But I already knew this was one of my least favorite songs when I heard the album, and now the fact that everyone seems to think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread is just making me hate it more. I just don't know what it is that everyone loves about this song that makes it better than "Everybody Knows That You're Insane" or "Tangled Up In Plaid" or "I Never Came". Hell, I'd rather have an edited cut of "Someone's In The Wolf" than "Burn The Witch". I'm halfway hoping this is just some kind of big gag that everyone's in on.

Well, would you care to tell as what makes this song ungood compared to the others?
Because while I can semi-understand that, the riffs on "BTW" are really catchy, as well as Josh's melody. The track sounds more like a single to me than "Insane", "Medication", and the like. Perhaps I like "The Blood Is Love" a little more, but that's not very good for a single. I just feel like "Witch" has more mmph than "Head" that's what I like more. I can't speak much about it because I happen to think that just about everything QOTSA is excellent.

I think if you imagine everything you like about Burn The Witch and that you don't like about the other songs and reverse it, you'll have my opinion on the subject. I love almost everything QOTSA does, but Burn The Witch has always stood out to me as weak and unmemorable. I barely remember anything about the song right now but all the songs I mentioned I can totally recall.
I guess it's just one those weird things I'll probably never understand like why everyone likes Weezer's This Is Such a Pity or why people think the Postal Service is so great or why everyone's in love with Bright Eyes and Death Cab For Cutie.

I never even said I loved the song. I've listened to it once, and my initial impression was slightly more favorable than it was for "In My Head", which peaked somewhere in the 60s or 70s on my personal chart. And I think "TISAP" is overrated on the boards too. ;)

I have only listened to this once (my station is usually slow to add active-leaning songs). I absolutely love it, but then again I loved "In My Head" but it wasn't exactly radio-friendly and it just wasn't a good FOLLOW-UP single. This isn't exactly radio-friendly either, and I can't see it moving past #35 or so, even with the impending songs going recurrent in the next few weeks (the Killers, Staind, FF, 30STM...).
I just don't feel like QOTSA is a radio-friendly band. Their songs are too robotic or dark, maybe similar to the early NIN. It just isn't suitable for modern rock radio, probably because it is too slow (?).

I don't think it's that slow, unless some radio edit slowed it down. It seems mid-tempo to me. Just too "different" for the radio, but I agree that they aren't that marketable.

This is my favorite QOTSA single behind "No One Knows". I had a feeling that it'd start slipping once Halloween went by, though.
Does "TISAP" have a kind of 80's vibe to it? I think I've heard the song if it does, and yeah, Weezer should stick to their own guns if that's the actually the song I'm thinking of.
