To celebrate the fact that Kate Bush is finally officially releasing a new album in 2005 (Her first since 1993), I thought i'd try to convert some new fans by sending some of her finest moments. I'm really interested in hearing some opinions on these so please take the time to download them and listen. In particular if you're a fan of the likes of Sarah McLachlan or Tori Amos you should enjoy this music. First off, Cloudbusting. Many consider this her finest work, a beautiful ballad based on an obscure childrens book Kate enjoyed as a child. Taken from her seminal "Hounds Of Love" album this peaked at #20 in the UK charts, and the breathtaking promotional video starred Donald Sutherland. s8.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=807D2C982FF1844F33FEAE38C27D7A93"We're cloudbusting Daddy...."

Hounds Of Love The title track from her best loved album. This was also a single, reaching #18 in the UK charts. It's a more upbeat Kate song, though in typical style, the unusual lyrics compare falling in love with a Fox hunt. s19.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=7B72E53BC7A2F72EF07FD537BF016A1E"I found a fox caught by dogs, he let me take him in my hands, his little heart it beat so fast, and I was sharing the running away..."

The Man With The Child In His Eyes Supposedly written by Kate when she was just six years old, this pretty ballad was her second single, and hit #6 in the UK. Taken from her debut album "The Kick Inside". s17.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3E732645FF3797EB20900104C6885E41"Maybe he doesn't love me, I just took a trip on my love for him"

Watching You Without Me Hands down my favourite Kate track ever. Another "Hounds Of Love" cut. This one was never a single, and formed part of the conceptual "Ninth Wave" section of the album. A totally haunting track which also contains my favourite Kate lyric of all time (See below) s17.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=B72ED63F1F4C77B95BB002D88756BB4B"Can't let you know what's been happening There's a ghost in our home Just watching you without me"

Kate Bush should be required considered required listening.
So many artists and bands have been influenced by her, if she wasn't around, alternative as a format wouldn't be the same.
If you're going to post some Kate Bush songs though, you must hook the people up with Running Up That Hill, Wuthering Heights, This Woman's Work and Love and Anger.

I've found that "Wuthering Heights" tends to put people off. I love it, but it's too WTF for a lot of the posters here to appreciate.... Reaching Out Sarah McLachlan's favourite Kate Bush song. From "The Sensual World" album. One of my favourite tracks from that album too.... s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=AD57D98C6EA2B64E2E817CEFF9293668"Reaching out for mama"

As far as Sarah McLachlan, her first album is like a Kate Bush tribute.

As far as Sarah McLachlan, her first album is like a Kate Bush tribute. Well exactly. The Sensual World The title track from her 6th Studio album and one of her most highly sexual songs ever. Peaked at #12 in the UK. I love the way her voice sort of trills in this. Not sure if it's a studio effect or her natural vocals but it sounds amazing., s2.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=38D2E8CA1E30DEF929AF3817DAA6EC2B"Then i'd taken the kiss of seedcake back from his mouth Going deep down south, go down"

Sat In Your Lap One of Kate's more bizarre songs from her "The Dreaming" album. A total fan favourite, the album was a commercial flop because it was such a departure from her relatively radio friendly earlier work. This song was a hit though, peaked at #11. s5.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=9BFE6DAF0006FC3B1F7B177372718582"I want to be a lawyer I want to be a scholar But I really can't be bothered"

Get Out Of My House This song to Kate is what "Me & A Gun" is to Tori Amos. Difficuly, powerful, and terrifying to listen to, but ultimately one of the most amazing songs she ever recorded. This is also about a rape, in this song the woman is raped again by the same man. The metaphor of a house is used throughout the song. It ends on a bizarre note as the woman fantasises about becoming "the mule" and destroying her satanic attacker. s12.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=6AE1D8C1D7DB50B5195CC3E65A69D3E7"I've washed the panes I've cleaned the stains"

Running Up That Hill One of her biggest hits, and the most important female rock song of the 80's. A masterwork. Frequently voted one of tghe top pop records of all time. Her sole US top 30 hit and a UK #3. Stunning. s20.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=D52FA7781C61A25E6DBF70D3CCA0B563"Come on baby Come on darling Let me steal this moment from you now"

Is anyone actually downloading these? Babooshka One of her biggest ever hits, #5 in the UK. From her third studio album "Never For Ever", which became her first to hit the #1 spot on the UK charts in 1980. This is a great pop song, but it's also very well-written and tells a story. s7.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1264757284E365925A5078CDA23477A1"She sent him scented letters and he recieved them with a strange delight Just like his wife But how she was before the tears and how she was before the years flew by Just how she was when she was beautiful"

Thanks for doing this.
I downloaded "Cloudbusting", "Hounds of Love", "The Sensual World", "Get Out of My House", "Running Up That Hill", and "Babooshka". The only one I disliked was "Babooshka".

Yeah, most likely anyone who'd have an interest in Kate Bush's music probably knows these songs.
Still perplexed you haven't put up This Woman's Work.
I should also say that Wuthering Heights to me anyway, sounds like a major comparason piece to anything Tori Amos has done.

I remember seeing her perfrom this on The Top Of The Pops in late February 1986 I believe. The video, on the other hand, looks like she's running from someone.
