I still maintain that despite all her sucess (and she has had a lot) CA is nowhere near as famous as she should be. No comparison to Britney. Beyonce is probably more famous at the moment. I'm speaking about the genral public out there, not amongst board members, obviously.

No you have it wrong, Beyonce is a hotter act at the moment, but she is not more famous than Christina. Christina is one of those celebrities who doesn't need a hit to be popular (even though she does get them) and Beyonce needs hits to stay on top. Geez, i can't wait until Beyonce's out. All these singers come and go and Christina and Britney are always still here. I remember saying the same thing about someone else around this time last year and that artist is nowhere near the charts today.

LOL, so true, although she "propagated" rather than "tackled" it. She must've "propagated" it really well if it went all the way to #3 on CHR POP, despite everyone hear saying it was her most bland single yet.

I remember saying the same thing about someone else around this time last year and that artist is nowhere near the charts today. Thats because she hasn't released a single in nearly a year. I also could have said the same thing about Xtina last August

Seriously... Christina is a lot more talented and her album is a lot more deserving of praise. Beyonce's music and lyrics are very shallow and repetitive. At least Christina writes about different things and varies her style.

Yeah, Beyonce's album is about love. Christina's album is about her trying to remain marketable in anyway she can. I'm sorry but Christina's album has no direction at all.

Beyonce spent 17 weeks on top of the Hot 100, Christina spent 0 weeks there. Beyonce's album hasn't been out a good six months and Christina's has been out for over a year. "Dangerously in Love" is definitely outpacing "Stripped" RCA confirmed worldwide sales over 5 million by Jan 2003 and BMG confirmed sales over 6.5 million by late March or early April. Do you realize between the months of Nov-Jan, Christina sold over 5 million albums? Now Stripped is predicted to sell passed the 10 million mark by the end of the year and even more if she has a good Grammy night. Christina has had 3 back-to-back WORLD number 1s and has sold more CD singles that dear lil Beyonce. Currently, Beyonce has sold alittle over 3.8 million WORLDWIDE. DIL is dropping fast in the UK and is out of the top 40. BTW, despite being over a year old, Christina is higher up in the charts than Justin and Beyonce and selling more every week. She's already 4x platinum in the UK and Canada. She was just certified 3x platinum in Australia, which is more than Britney's last album and FAR more than Justin or Beyonce's current albums. Christina is the Biggest Selling Female Pop Artist. ... Beyonce is no competition. So what if Beyonce can payola her way to the top of a singles chart full of songs that sound the same? Has there even been another WHITE girl to reach the number 2 spot (or higher) on Billboard this year?

Has there even been another WHITE girl to reach the number 2 spot (or higher) on Billboard this year? Norah Jones Shania Twain Those two have sold more this year than Xtina and hit the Top 2. You can also add Avril Lavigne to the list of more successful artists as she has sold double what Christina has with her last album. If you say, well thats one album, then you must look at the career of the artists where Celine, Britney, Mariah and a whole bunch of others have sold more than Christina. She's successful, but far from being number one. That title belongs to Shania. These other artists don't need a co-headliner when they tour either.

Christina's album has been out more than twice as long and has only sold a 1.2 million more copies than Beyonce. Christina's just not that hot anymore. Besides we are sick of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and their clones.

Yeah, Beyonce's album is about love. Christina's album is about her trying to remain marketable in anyway she can. I'm sorry but Christina's album has no direction at all. Sure, whatever. Oh, wait... maybe not everyone thinks that. Certainly not the 9 million+ people who went out and bought her album or the thousands all over the world who pay good money to see her sing LIVE. Yu obiously no s**t if you think Christina made an album to stay marketable. Any half-ass PR guy would throw out any idea to release a song like Dirrty as a leading single to a new album. Did Christina care, despite having alot of executives at RCA disapprove of releasing Dirrty? Hell, no. Christina doesn't sit up there infront of lovely cameras and say she's a good Christian and that she isn't too sexual.... and then go off an make a video like Baby Boy with near orgasms and naked women. Beyonce not only is built on hype, but she's also a two-faced hypocrite. Not as bad as Britney, but certainly very foolish. At least Christina means what she says and believes in what she sings. Damn all those people all over the world who were touched by Beautiful and the universal message of strength it possessed. I know so many people who were moved to tears when they heard "I'm Okay" or "Walk Away". Her music actally MEANS something. Beyonce just sings about the same old crap you hear on the radio every single day. Even the critics loved Stripped: I Didn't Mean to Turn You On - Got Soul?

There are White women who've attempted to do soul music, with limited success except for one very big exception. A few artists over the years have experienced crossover success by marketing their music to Black audiences. Pink and Madonna come to mind, but both abandoned those early forays into Black genres to forge their own sound. But Teena Marie, you may remember, never even tried to pretend she was anything but a Black girl who just happened to be in White skin. Shania, Celine, Faith, no matter how much they may share a mic with Mary J. or Aretha on "Divas Live," are pop singers. Mariah - that's a whole 'nother column.
But Christina Aguilera has been the biggest surprise of the year. Okay, the wardrobe is a little, um, slutty, and the "Dirty" video was a little unexpected to say the least from a chick who started out singing pop ditties like "Genie In A Bottle." But if there is any White girl out here who has the chops to be a full-fledged soul diva it's Xtina, as she's known to her friends. If ma had come out in a Teena Marie vein, Black folks would have been loving her from the door. Her singing skills are undeniable. Her first tour even included her rendition of the Etta James soul classic "At Last."
But there's a lot of hating going on over Stripped, Aguilera's third album. (Second in English.) Why? Cause she doesn't always like to appear in public fully clothed? So how come we ain't mad at Li'l Kim? The girl is 21. I'm not sure I want to claim every outfit I wore at that age. But back to the important stuff here, like Aguilera's voice. Does anybody think that "Lady Marmalade" got a Grammy because of Mya's vocals? Aguilera sang circles around her and Pink and would have out-blown anybody else who tried to step to her. On Stripped she shows more musical versatility than I would have ever given her credit for - from pop power ballads like "Beautiful" to anthemic smokers like "Fighter" and soulful R&B joints like "Impossible."
This girl got Alicia Keys to write and produce the latter for her, which proved to me that Keys is a little more talented than I originally thought. Aguilera also makes good use of another soulful White boy -- Roots/Dr. Dre associate Scott Storch -- together, they power up a few soul songs that provide telling details about Aguilera's broken relationship with dancer Jorge Santos.
Aguilera ably handles several genres with her seemingly limitless chops, but is at her best on the more soulful songs. For someone who started out on the Mickey Mouse Club, Aguilera sounds like a soul shouter from a church way down bottom. I wish she would do a straight-up R&B album. This girl's voice is like a Ferrari stuck in a 45-mile zone. Damn, if only she could open up and let it really rip... But until then, Stripped comes very, very close.Las Vegas Mercury Album Review

Say what you want about Christina Aguilera--she's a skank, a midget, a mental kid--but that little girl can f***ing sing, and she's got mostly good taste in pop music. And here's the shocker: Stripped is one of the very best albums of the year. With the exception of her first new single, "Dirrty," the rest of her new 'do, Stripped, soars with profound R&B resonance, superb musicianship and Aguilera's gigantic but subtle voice. Some of her notes seem to be made of 10 vocal chords. She's no Mariah Carey. She's no Britney. And those two facts are very, very good.
Let's just go right to the best song here, "Walk Away." It's a scrumptious waltz-beated ballad that has a melody as sweet as a fine old Ray Charles number (I swear). Aguilera's whisper-to-growl, four-octave vocal performance exhibits about a sexillion more emotional nuances and technical fulfillments than Whitney and Mariah ever achieve.
Aguilera's got some other slow nuggets here. "Loving Me 4 Me" is as sultry and knowing as old Anita Baker. "Impossible" is an Alicia Keys-written duet, a waltz that's more Aretha Franklin than anything. She's not just nimble, she's quick. "Can't Hold Us Down" is a passable hip-pop duet with filthy Li'l Kim. There's a cheesy, way-too-fun spaghetti-Western called "Make Over," written by Linda Perry. A Stevie Wonderish "Keep on Singin' My Song" echoes a slow-Prince wannabe slugged "I'm OK." Prince is the nearly apt comparison. When he was the s***, he mixed up styles like a mofo, created fun and interesting, multi-layered melodies and sang with more heart and original technique than anyone else in the '80s. Aguilera leans on a lot of musicians and producers to achieve much of the same thing, but she is right behind him.

I love Shania and she's been incredibl successful this year. But she's a country singer. BTW "UP!" has sold over 11 million copies... She hasn't had nearly as much promo as Beyonce, yet... *poof* 11 million! Same with Norah who has a debut that's sold well over 17 million albums. Norah is a jazzy/blues singer.

You're so lame, it's not even funny. Why don't you quit being so ignorant and know what you're talking about before you make yourself look like a fool? Just some advice. Stripped was certified 2x platinum by Dec, sweetie. By Jan RCA confirmed 5 million sales. Alittle over *2* months, Christina had sold 5 million worldwide. 3 months later, BMG confirm over 6.5 million. It's been over 6 months, and DILwas JUST certified 2x platinum in the US and she sold a mere 1.8 million in the rest of the world. While Christina has sold nerly 3.2 million in the US and over 6.1 million in the rest of the world. She is still selling strong in major world markets and with Christmas around the corner and the Grammys, Christina will outsell her debut.
