Goes for adds October 10th. Finally they choose a good song to be a single. I was getting worried when rumors circled about "This Is Such A Pity". I just don't like that song as much as everyone else, I guess, and I hated "Beverly Hills" and "We Are All On Drugs".

Well it's my second favorite song on the album so I'm fine with this decision.

I like this song a lot, but "This Is Such A Pity" is one of the best songs I've heard all year. I'm bummed to hear it's not the next single now.

Ugh... I haven't heard this one yet (I'm in the process of doing so,) but I'm incredibly disappointed that they dropped "This Is Such A Pity." It was by far my favorite Weezer single of all-time.

Its a good song for the third single. But This is Such A Pitty is a better choice. I can see it doing very well on Pop.

I don't get why you all like Pity so much. To me it sounds like Weezer trying to be retro, not like themselves. It's like a dance song, disco, or some crap. Course then again dance rock is what seems to be big now, so I shouldn't be too surprised.

Nah, it isn't either of those; it's new-wave. Very Cars new-wave.
And it's shocking that Ric Ocasek did not produce that one....
Anyway, at least they're going with the best songs from the album. I prefer "Pity" but this is right behind. IMO, the two singles are like the worst songs on the album.

Does anyone else think the intro to this song sounds like "Vindicated" from Dashboard Confessional? Take one more listen...
I still haven't listened to this album because of "Beverly Hills" and "We Are All On Drugs". However, this far superior song may make me want to.

With the success of Beverly Hills, I think it is safe to say that Weezer may very well release four songs off of Make Believe. I think Perfect Situation is good, but nothing near as good as This Is Such A Pity, which I believe will be released as a third single to CHR sometime in late-winter. Otherwise, Perfect Situation, if it has a good video and proper promotion, I think top 8 on Alternative isn't out of the question with a peak on Pop around 25 or so.

I'd say this is a safe bet for top 5 alternative. KROQ has been all over it from the start.

I also think this is the perfect segue....it should do really well on alternative and fair on pop, but Pity is going to be Beverly Hills pt. 2, if not bigger. Thank god, too, because it actually deserves such a huge hit status. If all goes as planned, I could actually see Peace being released to alternative fifth. Who knows though, Weezer have never had more than 3 official singles, even though like 3/4 of the Blue album was played on most alternative stations.
Speaking of Blue, someone was blasting it in their dorm room today and it really hit home for me just how huge Weezer are (as if the concert didn't this summer...). Some kid 11 years ago in the same dorm room was probably blasting the same awesome album...and everyone knows Beverly Hills. I just hope Perfect Situation does well...PS and Pity are some of Weezer's best to date, and Peace is candy for alternative radio in the spring/summer.

I also think this is the perfect segway.... It's spelled "segue," actually. (I'm not trying to be a dick about it or anything.)

Like "Pink Triangle," "Photograph," and "Keep Fishin", "Perfect Situation" will have a radio remix. No word on when it will hit radio, but it contains a new "woah" with a different harmony and repeated "perfect situation" background vocals towards the end...no word on weather the intro is shortened or not for the alternative version.

I, uh, never noticed any of these previous modifications. Have you ever heard the album version of Keep Fishin? It's practically a different song. Pink Triangle and Photograph aren't much different from their album versions but Keep Fishin is radically reworked.

Now that I've heard the full album 3 times and have gotten used to each song, I've made my decision in agreement that this is the best song on the album that hadn't been a single already, not that most of the others couldn't have been singles as well. If this doesn't hit the Top 5, then I don't know what is wrong with the world of music today. If a totally cheesy tune like Beverly Hills can do that well, this deserves to do even better.

It bothers me that Weezer would agree to let E! take "Beverly Hills" out of context to use to promote that Hugh Hefner bullshit show.

For some reason, this whole album just isn't working for me. Beverly Hills wasn't bad, imo; the use of the talkbox was fun for a change but it wears thin after so many spins. The rest of the disc sounds more than a little sophomoric.

I was wondering about that. I haven't seen it, but of course every Weezer video has some clever little oddity about it; the cast of Happy Days, sumo wrestlers, Playboy bunnies, the Muppets, etc. What does this video have?

A good storyline...reminds me of the Blue era videos.

I like the video. I absolutely hate the new radio edit. I kinda agree, but at the same time...they had to do it for pop. I think the chorus addition is good, but the intro is soooo lame as are the "perfect situation" outros. Thankfully the solo was left untouched...I don't think it detracts that much from the song.
