I like Jack, but I don't understand that move at all. Star was a good radio station as it was.

This makes NO sense; Star 100.7 was arguably the #1 Hot AC statsion in America; the station had won 'Hot AC station of the Year' at least twice in R&Rs annual awards issue, and PD Tracy Johnson is arguably the best Hot AC PD in America.

What makes this move even more non-sensical is that KFMB-FM was the higher rated (and maybe even most profitable) of San Diego's two hot ACs. KMYI has been good competition, but they just lost their morning show and the recent Arbitron trends do show it. While Star hadn't been shining as brightly lately, I thought they had way more gas to go on. Maybe the folks at Midwest know something I don't know.

This makes no sense.
A top 10 Hot AC station is like a license to print money. The only thing I can think of is that maybe Star's morning show was way outperforming the rest of the station, so the station thought a musical change was necessary.

That could be a possibility. Jeff and Jer is among the most popular morning shows in San Diego, usually neck and neck with KGB's Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw. If there is such a dramatic dropoff after 10am, then maybe something had to be done. J&J plays very little music, so they probably would get crossover from listeners of other stations and those fans probably go back to the stations they normally listen to once the show is over. So sad to see Star go.

Those guys have virtually owned morning drive in San Diego; they used to work at a KILLER CHR/Pop station (KKLQ, aka Q106), and when they left to go to KFMB-FM, Q106 tanked.
This really makes NO sense; Hot AC is THE format for adults who grew up listening to Top 40 but who have been bailing out by the millions since 1989.
