This is by far the least popular Spice Girl. So that automatically makes her my favorite lol. But for real "Hot" is the only thing spice girls I own. I was very impressed with Mel B's first solo effort. Sony released it in the fall/winter of 2000 to less than favorable reviews and pretty bad sales as well . People just didn't give her a chance. Bad single choices would ultimately be her undoing and she would lose her contract right after the last single "Lullaby" flopped.
1: "Feels So Good" B+ (92) Great song , upbeat sappy love song. But a horrible choice for a 2nd single. However I do believe it debuted at #7 but I may be mistaken.
2: "Tell Me" A+ (100) My favorite track on the whole album. This will also go down as her only big hit I think. As it peaked at #3 on the UK sales chart. My favorite song of 2000. Or atleast one of them. Another Darkchild Smash !!!!
3: "Hell No" B+ (92) Pretty cool urban inspired track. Very slow tempo very Tamia.
4: "Lullaby" A (96) The single that killed Mel B's career is actually a very sweet and sentimental single she wrote for her daughter. Another Fred Jerkins production. It didn't even manage to go top ten. That was the final nail in the coffin :(
5: "Hotter" A (96) Hot dance track. This should've been released as the 2nd single for sure. This would've blown up huge. An Al West (???) production
6: "Step Inside" A- (93) Very weird song. I have never quite understood what it meant. But I love the lyrics. Nice beats too
7: "ABC 123" C (80) My least favorite track on the whole disc. Very campy not my style at all.
8: "I Believe" B (89) Very good song sweet lyrics but nothing ground-breaking
9: "I Want U Back" A+ (100) This collab with Missy is hot hot hot. Love the video as well
10: "Pack Your s**t" A+ (100) The quintessetenial caught ya song. Eric Williams does the male part which is something I never knew. This is a Teddy Riley production and definitely should've been the 3rd single. Mel B probably already would've released her 2nd solo cd if they had better plans
11: "Feel Me Now" B (89) Alot of critics called this song her best. It reminds me much of Janet Jackson. It sounds like something off from 'Damita Jo' no kidding. Very sexy very sensual. Of course Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis produced this one.
Overall Grade: A- (93.36)
I think this was my favorite cd of 2000
