Puffy AmiYumi, Japan's most famous pop duo, has been making major international inroads in the past few months, with expanding fortune and a new animated series that's gracing U.S airwaves via Cartoon Network, "Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi".
They first exploded in Japan in 1996 when their debut single "Asia No Junshin" went on to sell a million copies, which lifted them to selling millions of records domestically, a variety show, and a load of merchandise.
Critics who have went back in their archives and heard their material abroad have compared this duo to many different artists, often as a rock-infused Abba or Cardigans.
Now, with their animated series enjoying strong early ratings via Cartoon Network (they also sing the theme song to "Teen Titans") this duo is sparking some interest among young demographics. Search results have increased for this duo since the series' international premiere.
Can this success story explode into something greater 2005, perhaps a hit single or two on the horizon?
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

That would be funny as hell if it happened, and not because they're bad. (Note: Not calling Puffy AmiYumi bad.)
I just can't picture their faces all over a ton of American merchandice like I can on a ton of Japanese merchandice.

lol I almost went to their concert back in October. I should've gone. My friend (who went alone) had fun.
But I only really liked one of the songs I heard by them.

Is this two girls? If so, I think I've heard one of their Japanese-language CDs at work and their voices made my ears bleed. (And if not, I apologize for the criticism.)

I saw part of the marathon last night! :) It is a cute cartoon! (When are they going to fire that good-for-nothing money-obsessed manager?) (giggles) Sincerely, Noah Eaton

That is definitely Puffy AmiYumi. lol One of their songs really caught on after I gave back my friend's CD. It was like track 2 on "An Illustrated History" (?).

I'd love to see that, but sadly no. Rachael and Utada effectively screwed any future Asian artists out of having a US hit, at least for the next few lifetimes.

She's been working on this new English album for years and years! :) I wonder if she's still billed as the Mariah of the East!
