Following up my Kate Bush yousendit, here's another thread with the choice cuts from one of my absolute favourite singers of all time. Sinead has made many enemies in her career for her outspoken nature and questionable politics. However, putting all of that aside, she has one of the most beautiful, fragile and femenine voices i have ever heard. A shame her personal actions, plus the lacklustre "Am I Not Your Girl" album (Easily the worst of her career) meant she's often seen as a one hit wonder. I'm not including that hit here, as everyone knows it. I highly reccomend her albums "Universal Mother" "I Do Not Want What I haven't Got" & "The Lion & The Cobra" to any music fan, particularly fans of Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Jewel etc. If you get her greatest hits, buy the UK edition. The US one has a much worse tracklisting. Right, kicking things off with the song that made me LOVE her. Taken from "Universal Mother" this song became Sinead's second biggest UK hit, peaking at #13 in 1994. It is a stunningly beautiful, simple little song. I'll post a live version later which is equally amazing. "Thank You For Hearing Me" s14.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=693F313D5D6B1815F8E2A1FA5AEDBFDF"Thankyou for holding me And saying I could be Thankyou for saying 'Baby'"

Fire On Babylon s17.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3CJIAVAK5AAZ002PR0HC8515WUAlso from "Universal Mother" this track is startlingly angry and intense. It's written about Sinead's deceased mother, who Sinead claimed was abusive. An amazingly powerful song that sends chills down my spine. "She took my father from my life She look my sisters and brother I watched her torturing my child Feeble I was then But now I'm grown"

"I Am Stretched On Your Grave" s13.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3SM4MSSSZ1YQN0VEP5SW3PMT4FMy favourite song. This is very special indeed. It's basically a poem set to music. Very sombre, but truly moving. If you've ever lost someone you love this song will press serious buttons. "I still would be your shelter Through rain and through storm And with you in a cold grave I cannot sleep warm"

"Three Babies" s16.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2A5XOZGLEXN3S075N1UXHYF7JPTaken from "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got", there are numerous theories about the meaning behind this, but regardless, the journey from delicate grief to sheer rage in her voice throughout the song is astonishing and very powerful, "In your soul Your blood and your bones I have wrapped your cold bodies around me"

"This Is A Rebel Song" s20.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=39EDV6BDAKA3E2T8CI89AWNU31From 1997's "Gospel Oak EP", this is a very delicate ballad with some beautiful lyrics. Really shows how Sinead has matured and mellowed over the years, without losing her knack for a beautiful lyric, or the power of her voice. Political overtones run through this song too, it is a call for peace in Northern Ireland. "I love you my hard English man Your rage is like a fist in my womb"

"Red Football" s15.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=35B04XET8SYFR1MVN708LQ1V4OTaken from "Universal Mother, this haunting, sombre track deals again with abuse, and her role as a woman and mother. The only part I don't like is the end, which is a little silly. But overall it's a very moving song. "I'm not no animal in the zoo I'm not no whipping boy for you You may not treat me like you do"

"You Made Me The Thief Of Your Heart" A perennial fan favourite, this glorious orchestral single was penned by Bono of U2. This peaked at #42 in the UK, highly underrated. It also made a rare appearence for Sinead in the Australian charts though. It's an amazing track and one of her career highlights. s10.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=046WWYIZS75QI3R5GP7JM608PQ"Your spirit sings Though your lips never part Calling only to me The Thief of your heart"
