Since Casey Kasem is leaving AT 40, I'd thought I'd come up with a scenario for the Weekly Top 40. If Rick Dees, for whatever reason, is no longer hosting the Weekly Top 40, would someone else take over or would it go off the air? I tend to believe it would go off the air because I can't think of anyone would be a quality replacement.

Hopefully someone who wouldn't use the same damn jokes over and over again.
This especially applies to the year end chart. Rick should forget the freakin' jokes for just two weeks out of the year and concentrate on counting down as many songs as possible instead of telling the recycled jokes that weren't funny in the first place and skipping over so many songs, most of them songs that were obscure and people would like to hear once more before they fade into oblivion. Of course, last year he did a pretty good job, eliminating most of the songs that were popular in 2001 and had long since fallen out at the start of 2002.
Someone ought to tell Rick in a condescending voice, "Now Rick, two weeks without jokes isn't going to hurt you. You can start the jokes again after the year end chart is done. How does that sound?"
Or at least say that to his producers or whoever's responsible for the poor quality of his show, a show that once upon a time actually used to be good.
Just my opinion.

It would end. Rick Dees IS the Weekly Top 40. I don't think anyone could duplicate his style. I really hope no one would try.

My guess is his sidekick Ellen K will probably take over.
