Why do artists/labels release songs and albums in different countries on different dates? Its understandable when its a new artist and they become popular in their own region first and then go worldwide. But take for instance, Kylie Minogue. Shes a world famous singer and Body Language and "Slow" was released almost everywhere, but the US in late November and wont be released in the US in January for "Slow," and February for the album. Please enlighten me...am i missing something thats so obvious?

It's not like she's super world famous in the US... so if they released it and she wasn't here to do some radio promo, the song would probably die on its own? Or maybe after it has became a hit worldwide, they can now safely push it in the US and radio will notice it's been doing good around the world.

It would take more promotion to make Kylie's song blow up in the U.S. than it would take to make it blow up in the UK/Australia/etc (all those countries that just carbon copy other charts, such as Austria and Switzerland).
I used to wonder why Atlantic never pushed Angela overseas, since it seemed to work for Debelah Morgan. But I heard that "Picture Perfect" was played on MTV Philippines in December 2002. :o That's how a Tom Welling fan found out about his being in a music video and then all those Tom fans ate up my Angela-Via.net bandwidth, downloading the mpeg 1000x. >:(
