I seriously under-estimated Jessie McCartneys "Beautiful Soul" and seriously over-estimated Franz Ferdinands "Take Me Out" at CHR/Pop. At Pop what did you like that tanked and what did you dislike that really blew up?

Oh, man, lots of songs - on both fences. It's just weird how some songs you think would never make it, make it and make it big. And the songs you really want to make it and think have a big shot, never go anywhere.
I guess one song I really wanted to catch on was Damien Rice's Cannonball - I thought it would've been a smash and have Daughters-like success. But my mind was on how great the song and not the reality of the business.

'Breakaway's is probably the most underestimated song of 2004. it was simply too pop for most people, and a lot of people thought it didn't have the 'hip' factor that pop stations are looking for. also, it grew very very slowly that most people thought it was jsut gonna lose its bullet at one point before reaching #1.
i never really underestimated 'pieces of me'. jessica had a #1 hit, so i thought ashlee would do it, too considering that both acts have reality tv shows.
i overestimated a lot of songs. not even worth mentioning them now.

Definitely underestimated "Breakaway". I honestly didn't think Pop would pick up on it, and was pleasantly surprised when it became a hit. Also underestimated "Beautiful Soul", though I wasn't nearly as happy when THAT song became a hit.
Let me see what I overestimated...it depends on what happens, but I might have overshot on "Sunday Morning". Joss Stone, "You Had Me" Kimberley Locke, "8th World Wonder" Probably overestimated "Just A Little While" too, just because it was played 20 times a day when it first leaked.

2 songs that pleasantly surprised me by way exceeding my expectations were "Breakaway" and "If I Ain't Got You." I also didn't expect "Confessions Part II" to do as well as it did on Pop.
I think the song I overestimated the most was "Who Is She 2 U" :'(

*****Overestimated*****
Jet: "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" (I thought it was a sure Top 10 and would end up being a year-end Top 10. Though many thought it wouldn't even chart and indeed it went to #16, it still fell significantly flat of my expectations and plunged down the chart too.)
Trapt: "Echo" (Here I was thinking "Headstrong" wasn't radio-friendly at all for CHR/Pop. Then I hear this and consider "Echo" more radio-friendly and likely to match or even beat the #5 peak of "Headstrong". It barely made the Top 30.)
Three Days Grace: "Just Like You" (Another Trapt type-of story. I really didn't think "(I Hate) Everything About You") was Pop friendly at all. But "Just Like You" is far more bouncy and repetitive, bland enough to be a major CHR/Pop crossover smash. I predicted a Top 20 appearance, but it barely made it past New & Active.)
Five For Fighting: "100 Years" (When you have a single that goes Top 3 at Hot AC and #1 at AC, what would you think? I predicted this would peak at #19 or so, but couldn't break the Top 30.)
Lenny Kravitz: "Where Are We Runnin'?" (And why wouldn't we? Lenny did everything right. Had a single below three minutes long, punched with his classic sound and a bouncy beat and signature vocals. It SHOULD have hit, but instead its lame follow-up "Lady" has outpeaked it.)
*****Underestimated*****
Ryan Cabrera: "On The Way Down" (I admit I didn't know anything about this artist, and thus didn't understand the appeal to him. Had I known the Simpson connection, I would have predicted a higher peak, though still not in the Top Ten.)
Gavin DeGraw: "I Don't Want To Be" (I don't think any of this predicted a chart-topping second wind coming! ;) )
Howie Day: "Collide" (I figured with his album not selling anymore and "She Says" a massive flop follow-up, the album was finished with promotion. Who knew it would actually be his strongest single from the record?)
Jessica Simpson: "With You" (Who knew she'd suddenly come back after a massive flop "Sweetest Sin")
Ciara: "1,2,3 Step" (I figured Ciara would be nothing but another Kelis type of chart story. Have a lead single ("Goodies") that sped to the top and plunge even faster down the chart. "Goodies" actually had longevity, and now she has another huge hit.)
Evanescence: "My Immortal" (I figured with huge album sales, it would chart fairly high, but I thought it too slow to go Top 10 and would likely peak just outside it at #13 or so.)
Los Lonely Boys: "Heaven" (Let's be honest, I think we ALL underestimated them!)
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I definitely overestimated "My Place". I thought this song would have been a #1 pop smash EASILY. Instead, it scrapes the top 10 and then falls rather quickly.

I don't think I underestimated "Over and Over". I think its was a freak song. Whos gonna remember that POS song? It was boring the first time I heard it and only got moreso so I think I got rooked on that one.
I DEFINATELY overestimated "Tilt Ya Headback". I still don't get what went wrong with that one but, oh well. And Ryan Cabrera, I don't know what to make of him. I did underestimate him but I don't think hes got much else to offer with a quick exit mach schnell.

I so overestimated My Place and even Flap Ya Wings, and I guess Tilt Ya Head Back, BUT before I heard it. When I heard it I knew it wouldn't be big.
Underestimated:
JoJo - Leave Breakaway Soldier (knew Top 10 but didn't think it would outpeak LMB) Goodies 1, 2 Step (knew it would go Top 5 but not #1) Let Me Love You (no waaay) Drop It Like It's Hot
