In honor of MandyFanUK's flipside topic! It's kinda hard to suss out, though...on one side we have actors who totally decided to dabble in recording after becoming well-established in the acting career: John Travolta Eddie Murphy Don Johnson Bruce Willis Joey Lawrence ...and on the other, those who'd been doing stuff on the musical end as well, and busted through eventually: Michael Damian Nia Peeples Jennifer Lopez And then there're those who did it associated with movies they starred in: Patrick Swayze Gwyneth Paltrow (almost could've also put Travolta here, but he had his first hit during his Welcome Back Kotter era). I'm sure I've missed several...y'all can fill those in! My Top 10: 1 DON JOHNSON Heartbeat 2 EDDIE MURPHY Party All The Time 3 PATRICK SWAYZE She's Like The Wind 4 JOEY LAWRENCE Nothin' My Love Can't Fix 5 MICHAEL DAMIAN Was It Nothing At All 6 NIA PEEPLES Street Of Dreams 7 MICHAEL DAMIAN Rock On 8 NIA PEEPLES Kissing The Wind 9 BRUCE WILLIS Respect Yourself 10 EDDIE MURPHY Put Your Mouth On Me These are based on the entire song, not just vocal ability per se...

Gwyneth Paltrow is pretty damn good for an actress gone singer.

Aigh! How could I forget Scott Grimes! I just saw him in that ABC miniseries on tonight, DreamKeeper. He doesn't have much name recognition, but you'd know him if you saw him. He has a recurring part as a new med student on ER (he was the one caught smoking pot by Romano in the episode Romano died in). He was also in Party Of Five and Band Of Brothers, and a slew of sitcom appearances as "the red-headed kid" (he started acting around 12 or so). Anyway, the song was "I Don't Even Mind", and it's great; it was produced by Richard Carpenter, of all people, but you'd sure never know it. Irrespective, it bombed miserably; so, compared to the rest, perhaps he shouldn't be included here after all! P.S. No, he wasn't the red-headed kid in Terminator 2--that was Danny Cooksey.
