Currently, I am really enjoying "He Wasn't" from Avril's solid second album. For months, I have heard how bad the lyrics are, that it is "Skaterboi" part 2, and that it sounds annoying. I decided to check the album out for myself, and surprisingly, the song is one of the major highlights for me. It is such a fun and catchy song. So what songs do you love so much that you don't get why people hate them? Discuss.

I'm with you on "He Wasn't." Also, "Sk8er Boi" wasn't so bad either, but other people seemed to hate it!

I think "my love is like wo" is Mya's best track to date. The vocals, the production, the overall concept and style of the song were amazing. The video was so bad ASS and she really shines in it. It was a 1st single that made a statement, declared her growth and it was her 3rd biggest hit which is appropriate because it was her 3rd album. And it actually hit top 10 at pop of all places. But from what I have read, alot of people here at pulse absolutely hate it (but the general reception from the public was very positive) I dont understand why at all. Its my favorite Mya song EVER!

Why does everyone hate John Mayer's "Daughters"? It's so catchy and also very soothing to listen to!

I thought "My Love is Like Whoa" is an acquired taste kind of song. I had to listen to it several times before I was really into it. "Daughters" is an amazing song; even though it might be too sappy and slow for some people. I hated "Skaterboi" at first, then was really into it.

There seemed to be a lot of negative sentiment toward "What You Waiting For" by Gwen Stefani, and I couldn't understand for the life of me why that was. It was catchy, fun to listen to, and musically interesting to me. I could understand a sizeable minority, but it just seemed more like a sizeable majority to me.

It's not that I specifically hate the song, I just find John Mayer to be really boring and pretentious. Not him as a person, maybe it's just the whole idea of him being such an AMAZING SERIOUS artist that the media hypes. Then I hear his songs and I think of how his lyrics aren't exactly ground-breaking, and the songs put me to sleep. Iunno.

I was quite miffed that it flopped at radio, but considering it's not R&B or rap, i'm not exactly SURPRISED. I love the song, it's fun and it's weird and it's catchy. Three signs that it's awesome, imo.

Why does everyone hate John Mayer's "Daughters"? It's so catchy and also very soothing to listen to! Catchy? I'm also not sure why a lot of people hated "Pretty Baby" by Vanessa Carlton. It's probably for the same reasons as "Daughters." But I believe "Pretty Baby" has one of those 90's ballad hooks, and there are two hooks in the chorus. "Pretty baby, don't you leave me..." catchy, then "I'll be the embrace that keeps you warm..." that part seems very Mariah Carey/Vanessa Williams to me (the tune, not the vocals). I believe the song would have been huge sung by someone with a stronger voice.

There was quite a lot of dislike for "Where Is The Love?" by the Black Eyed Peas in 2003.
Personally, I think it's a beautiful track, and one of the best singles of 2003. Musically, it's nothing spectacular, but the message is what defines the track, the message. I mean, what are the odds nowadays a politically-charged track like this could go #1 on Pop radio? (Oh...wait...Justin Timberlake! ;) )
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I just can't get over how awesome that melody is, but sadly, Vanessa's lack of vocal prowess brings the song down as you get closer to the second chorus.

Three Days Grace--(I Hate) Everything About You and Just Like You. Yeah, neither one is anything groundbreaking, but they're good, catchy songs nonetheless and I can remember everyone slamming them when released. IHEAY was my favorite song of 2004.

I got into IHEAY just as it was peaking on the Pop chart, but Just Like You is just blah.

Yeah, I think their problem is their songs are growers. For me, it took a little bit of time before I really liked each of their singles. I guess if someone doesn't want to give it the chance to grow because they dislike it so much initially, then there's nothing you can do. But I though all three of their singles are catchy, power-driven hard rock, which I like just fine.

Fantasias opinion of unwed teen motherhood expressed in the lyrics to BM makes me cringe, dislike, and question her character.

I like rock generally, but this song never grew on me and after the 38592384923rd time hearing it on the radio, I want to break the radio when it comes on. Yes, it's catchy and recognizable, but damn is it ever annoying!

I've never hated Pretty Baby, I just find it really really dull.

"Beautufil Soul," or any songs by Jesse McCartney. Wait, I think I know, most people think he looks like Aaron Carter so they are gonna judge him before they even listen to his songs.

I disagree that John Mayer is pretentious. I don't get that vibe from him at all. In fact, he comes across to me as more of a dork than anything else. Maybe his humor and off-setting wit gives off a bad impression.
Topic: Dirrty by Christina Aguilera. I donot understand the hate for this song. I don't even understand the hate for the video. What was she supposed to look like and act like in a video titled Dirrty? Anyway, the song has a KILLER Rockwilder beat, trashy lyrics and a scorching vocal - what more could you ask for?
Never understood the dislike. Most Christina fans seem to love it, but many "casual" fans haaaate it.
