This thread is for those this close to buying a CD, but want some opinions on whether it's good or not. I'm always interested in new music, but sometimes I want some feedback on how some people are liking it, or not liking it. It helps when the response is non-biased, too!
I stopped by Best Buy today and saw Howie Day's Stop All The World Now (special edition) for $9.99 and I really, really liked Collide and Perfect Time Of Day, so I'm really considering buying it. Can anyone who has heard it or owns it, give me some feedback on it? Is it worth the purchase? Are there any other standout songs that are as good as the previously mentioned singles?

I definitely recommend the Howie Day album. Truth is, "Perfect Time of Day" and "Collide" are the best 2 songs on the album, but that doesn't mean much because the rest of the album is good too. It's a nice laid-back, driving Cd to listen to with the windows down just as winter starts melting away. My favorite song of the non-singles is "Brace Yourself."

Why don't you guys just listen to clips online or stream it and then decide for yourselves?

For under $10, yes. The two singles, "Brace Yourself", and one of the b-side are my favourites. The album is very mellow. I like it.

Thanks, guys. I like Brace Yourself more than the two singles, actually! And it's $9.99, with 4 extra tracks, so I guess I can't beat that. :)

It isn't that good of a CD but you should definitly check out "Hotline", "Thugstyle" and "Oh" which are the best tracks besides the singles. I wanted to know if I should buy John Legend's "Get Lifted and Emma's "Free Me"

You should definitely buy "Get Lifted." It's a solid album all the way through. My favorite tracks besides the two singles are "Alright" and "She Don't Have To Know," and Kanye's rap on "Number One" is hilarious.

Fantasia's album is really good. Highlight tracks "Selfish", "Free Yourself", "It's All Good" (should've been the second single) and "Summertime" I don't really like the song but the way that she sings it just makes you fall in love with it. As for Mario, his album is a grower. At first listen I hated 85% of the album. I suggest listening to "Boom", "Couldn't Say No" and "How Could You" to make that decision. Ashanti is not good IMO. If Chapter II is better than you know that's saying alot. Go and buy the debut CD. It's worth your time.

I think Fantasia's album is awesome. I really didn't know what to expect when I bought it, because I hadn't even heard Truth Is (which is her first single). I bought it based on what I saw her do on American Idol. "Truth is," this album is awesome and I think you'll like it if you enjoy her voice and chilled out R&B music. Standouts include Baby Mama, Truth Is, Free Yourself, It's All Good and Good Lovin'. It's a very solid debut album.
I'd look for it on sale, though. Try a Target or Wal Mart - they love the idols and they're always on sale for a great price.

"I'll Be There" is absolutely fabulous and you'll adore it immediately. I definately recommend that one.

I wanted to know if I should buy John Legend's "Get Lifted and Emma's "Free Me" Best Buy and Target had John Legend's album for $10 last week. Definaelty a good deal. If you like "Used To Love U", you'll probably like the whole album. It has a feel to it like someone took an old school (Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye) R&B album and remixed it with a little bit of hip hop flavor.
