For me personally, this Tuesday is a great day for new releases. Three CD's from three artists that I like are being released. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to purchase all three on the same day but I'll definitely get one or two of them on Tuesday. I have a burnt copy of Body Language already, and the only store I have near me is Wal-Mart and they edit their CD's. I'm almost positive Courtney's new CD has a parental advisory and I am definitely not going to get an edited CD. So I may just get Norah and Kylie if it's cheap and wait to get Courtney later.
And isn't it true that if you get Body Language at Target, there are extra tracks on it?? I thought I read that somehwere. If so, I'll probably wait on that too.
Anyway, are any of you guys picking up any of these? I know there are a lot of fans of all three of these artists on the boards. I'm predicting a huge debut for Norah, and Courtney could actually have a surprisngly strong debut too. Kylie does have a pretty big following in the US so I think she'll go top 10, at least. She debuted at number 2 with Fever, right? or was it 3?
I am listening to Courtney's album right now off of the stream VH1 has on their site. I've listened to it a few times actually. The album is GREAT. If you like any of Hole's stuff you should really like it. It's the perfect blend of Live Through This and Celebrity Skin. My favorite track is Sunset Strip, followed by Uncool, But Julian I'm A Little Older Than You, All The Drugs, and Hold On To Me. It's definitely everything you would expect from a solo album from Courtney.
Body Language is awesome, to me. I think it is better than Fever, for sure, because it is just a much stronger effort and there aren't really any real filler tracks. Someday is the only one that I don't really care for, but I still like it on some level. Yes, Slow isn't really a song that immediately catches you but it's Electro-Clash beats that are on the same level as Goldfrapp's Black Cherry album make it a unique first single, which is why I think it has so much appeal. The next single, Red Blooded Woman, is catchy but less "mature" if you will than Slow. I hope it's a hit for her though. This is a great album and it'd be a shame if people passed it up just because the first single isn't Can't Get You Out Of My Head pt. 2.
"Feels Like Home" from Norah Jones is probably going to be one of the biggest sellers of the year. I am in love with the album. I may even like it more than Come Away With Me. I love the country and bluegrass influences on some of the songs. It's the perfect follow up album. Favorite songs for me are Sunrise, Toes, Humble Me, and Creepin' In, the duet with Dolly.

Kanye West is out too. He's the only definite purchase for me.

Norah will debut at #1. The others will be lucky to go Top 10. Between the Grammy's, Valentines Day buyers picking up Josh Groban and Harry Connick, and strong holdovers from Incubus and Kenny Chesney, I just donn't see Kylie or Courtney doing too well.
EDIT: Kanye West will get a high debut.

Norah should sell probably around 650k. Kanye West will probably sell around 300k atleast. Kylie will be lucky to sell anymore than 120k.

Ill probally scoop Kylie's eventually...before the end of Feb...no rush though.
However, i think: Kanye will be the highest debut followed by Norah, then Kylie, then Courtney

Don't forget Paulina Rubio and Thalia!
I predict, in order of new release sales:
1) Norah 2) Kanye 3) Courtney 4) Kylie 5) Paulina 6) Thalia
I want to get all of them, except for Courtney Love, eventually. I'll probably get Paulina's first.

I predict, in order of new release sales: 1) Norah 2) Kanye 3) Courtney 4) Kylie 5) Paulina 6) Thalia I agree with the Top 4.........but I would switch Paulina & Thalia around. I think the fact that Thalia has currently had singles released to the United States will help her cause and keep her out of the basement of new releases

My rationale: [/li][li]Paulina has a future #1 Latin smash, while poor Thalia will end up being stuck at #2. [/li][li]Paulina's album is 100% new material, her first 100% new album since 2001. Thalia's new album has recycled material from nearly 10 years ago! [/li][li]Thalia's "new" album is her fourth or fifth GH album. Fans that bought her GH albums a while ago probably already own "Thalia (2002)," "Thalia (2003)", "Arrasando," and "Amor A La Mexicana," so why would they want to buy an album with the same songs on it? [/li][li]Thalia has a DVD coming out, with more videos than are available on the DVD portion of her GH CD. Fans are more likely to buy her DVD to see all the rare videos than buy her CD to hear the same ol' same ol' songs.
My prediction: [/li][li]Paulina will debut higher than Thalia.
But you never know! After all, Thalia released "Cerca De Ti" in early December, while Paulina waited until early January to properly release "Te Quise Tanto." Radio listeners are more familiar with Thalia's new recording than with Paulina's. Plus, Thalia just got divorced. That garnered her more attention than Paulina's fling with Chris Judd.

Norah Jones will debut at #1 with over +700,000 copies.
Courtney Love will debut in the top 10, with Kylie debuting somewhere in the top 20.

Well, I did get Norah today :)
Wal-Mart had Courtney, but edited like I suspected. And I decided to hold off on Kylie until I get to Target so I can get the bonus disc.

Obviously, out of this group, Norah Jones is going to be on top. Her last album is still selling well, and I think her fanbase will be loyal and scoop this one up as well. I think she'll easily top 500,000. Kanye will come in second, selling around 250,000. Kylie will be third, selling between 80,000 and 120,000.
As for Thalia, Rubino and Love. Love will barely crack the top 20, and who cares about the other two?

One Day sales from HITS has Norah going over 600K with a shot at 700K.
Kanye West will do 400-450K.
The only other title they mention and state as the third highest debut is, suprisingly, Melissa Etheridge who is headed for 100K. Good for her.
The Grammy boosts, combined with big sales last week for Kenny Chesney and Incubus make it difficult to tell where people might wind up.
HITS also states that OutKast, Evanescence and Beyonce are looking at 100% sales increases bringing OutKast to 220K, Evanescence to 200K and Beyonce to 100K for this week. Not to mention, Alicia Keys being boosted to 80-85K, Foo Fighters to 65K, and Sarah McLachlan to 70K.
Plus you have albums like Chingy, Britney & Jessica who have increased steadily for the past month.
Regardless, sales are looking healthy and huge for this week.

Escandalo TV had a poll: "Who would go out winning - Paulina or Thalia?" I don't know exactly what happened, but I think Paulina showed up at a recent Thalia concert just to piss off her fans. Whatever happened, it's great promotion for both their albums.

I got Kylie the same night I made my last post hehe....I couldn't wait, I just couldn't!
The artwork for the album is stunning, Kylie looks gorgeous. Also, I LOVE Cruise Control!!! It's been in my head all day.
This weekend, I'm gettin' Courtney! Woo!

www.billboard.com/bb/charts/airplay/latintracks.jspOops. Thalia stole the #1 spot from Paulina this week. Weird! I thought Paulina would stick at #1 for a while. Well, at least I was initially correct. Go Thalia. Paulina debuted at #1 on the Latin albums chart. Thalia debuted at #2. Neither made the top 100 of the regular chart. :(

I still think it is the highest Billboard 200 position for a Spanish album by Paulina.
