I think the ones who have to rely on getting their material from others because they don't write their own stuff are the ones who need to worry. That's why I have hope for Pink to come back with something new. I think J-Lo has definitely jumped the shark by her egomania and overexposure. A lot of people are just fed up with her so she's going to have to work even harder on her songs to overcome the backlash.

The ones who have enough sense to get good writers are the ones who wil benefit and make good songs. Everyone isnt a songwriter, nor should they be. I long for days where people like Whitney Houston had enough sense to know they shouldnt write anything.

the ones that have the most problems are those that started out with good songs written for them, but then decide that they want to be true "artistes" and proceed to write or co-write their own crappy songs.

well cause writing n co-writing brings in the money.. :o They dont get much through just singing.. Thats y many wanna write or co-write their songs.. However many claim that they write n co-write is BS.. I think u can tell when an artist is capable of writing or co-writing a song... Some say they do it n i'm like W/E

My point about the ones who write their own songs was more to bring up that the good songs written by others go to the new "it" person instead of the almost washed up established artist. If they aren't good songwriters themselves, they are fighting for the good songs that are available and very often will lose out to the next wave of artists waiting to replace them.

Pink knew she was taking a risk with her "Try This" album, just like with "M!ssundaztood", except it didn't pay off as well as "M!ssundaztood" did.
In terms of worldwide sales, "Try This" has sold pretty much the same as "Can't Take Me Home" I think.
And as people mentioned the two Xtina songs were not released by her label, nor was "Feel Good Time" released by Pink's I believe as it was for the Charlie's Angels 2 soundtrack (a pretty dire film).
But "Feel Good Time" was a #3, Trouble a #7 and God Is A DJ a #11 (narrowly missing Top 10) in the UK.
Radio was said to be sick of Pink in the US by the time she was trying to come back with "Feel Good Time", so I imagine by the time she's perfecting her new material she could likely have a hit on her hands.
But coming from the UK, I can't help but think that the US Hot 100 is just stupid for being based on mostly airplay.
I hope/think having downloads added in will give the chart a better represenation of what really is a good song, and not some radio stations deciding for you..

Wow thats amazing-I thought Cant Take Me Home sold over 2 million in the US vs. Try This not even hitting 1 million. Try This must have sold very well worldwide. (well, that or CTMH did nothing worldwide, haha)

Of those in the list, I'd definitely say Pink.
But then a really good radio track can make all the difference. Everyone said Britney's success was done, and look what happenned last year. For that matter, many were sure Mariah's career was over at least for the near future, and look who's back in the Top 20.
