For the last couple of years there have been a lot of female artists who would easily get top ten hits, but recently all of them have surprised us with a string of back to back misses. Which one of these female artists do you think will no longer be as big on radio, and who do you think will make a rebound?
Pink-Feel Good Time (#17), Trouble (#17), God Is a DJ (#22)
Christina Aguilera-Car Wash (#23), Tilt Ya Head Back (#25)
Avril Lavigne- Don't Tell Me (#11), Nobody's Home (#13)
Britney Spears-Outrageous (#23), My Prerogative (#22)
Jennifer Lopez-Baby I Love You (#27), Get Right (#20-#15?)
I'm sure many of them will go through rebounds. Look at Kelly Clarkson who looked like she wouldn't be able to score any more top ten hits after "Miss Independent" and now she could possibly get two back to back #1's.
I'm not too sure about J.lo because it's not really looking good for her. It's still too early to tell though because we still need to see where "Get Right" actually ends up peaking and where her 2nd single peaks. I think Avril, like Britney Spears, will be very inconsistent in the future. Britney has always had a string of top tens, then followed by a string of flops, then a string of top tens, then a string of flops etc. I see Avril doing the same thing too. As for the rest, i can see Pink making a comeback, but she'll never be as big as her 2nd album. Christina Aguilea is doing a smart thing by taking a break because radio will be ready for her when she comes back, and her recent flops will be forgotten.

Avril actually had a single that peaked at #2 (and made it to #1 mid-week) between the two songs that you listed, and neither of the Christina songs were from her own album.

but recently all of them have surprised us with a string of back to back misses. Avril did have two recent songs that missed the top 10, but unlike the others mentioned in your post, they were not back-to-back.

Musically, Pink is getting worse.

Anyone is capable of rebounding. No1 has to be stuck in the gutter for long. It just depends on the song and time in between. Everyone can get at least 1 good comeback with the right material.

Pink's in the worst position of those. At least the others can still move albums.

They are all capable of coming back, everyone thought Britney was done but then Toxic came and she had pretty good radio success this year. Christina had huge success with Stripped and if her next album has good material she will have more success. Same goes for Avril. Pink needs to make an album like her 2nd one, that was an amazing album and had huge success. As for J-Lo, I'm not sure because Get Right was a very catchy good song but radio isn't playing it.

i've heard some stations actually say that their listeners called in because they were really annoyed by the horns in "Get Right". one of them actually made a mix that toned them down, but a lot of others would most likely not play it at all.
I don't think Avril's position is that bad (even excluding her #2, and the fact that "Nobody's Home" deserved way better), she seems to be in good shape. then again, i'm speaking from the perspective of a Clay Aiken fan LOL...where I think top 15 is damn good.
Britney's radio career has always looked over for awhile (see: Britney album) but it hasn't really mattered because she's always been able to move albums. ITA that Pink seems to be in the tightest spot.

well those Xtina singles flopped in USA (#58 TYHB n #63 Car Wash) but w/DL they would have gone top 20... oh well.. Now her singles will go back 2 the top 20 w/DL included in.. Radio does not like her much so her fans r going 2 have include her on the list w/DL same w/others like Britney,Avril,n many bands..
An Anyways those songs were huge hits 4 her overseas... It did great in UK,Australia, New Zealand, n it went top 5 or top 10 in 95% of the countries that it came out in..There r other markets these ladies can be successful in.. The US isnt the only one

There is no denying that "My Happy Ending" was a nice success. But you also have to admit that "Don't Tell Me" and "Nobody's Home" both underperformed.

I'm sorry but these are bad examples. Baby I Love You came out after J.lo's era was already over. I still think its too early to tell for J.lo. Same with Britney & Christina. Avril had a #1 single in between the two singles you listed soo I doubt her time is up. We'll know more when all of them release their new albums.

Nobody mentioned Ashlee's career. I think she is totally done! After Shadow quickly rose up the charts and peaked at #15 then fell like a rock I knew her career would be done. Now Lala has peaked at #28 and is almost out of the top 50.

It's not like she was on her second or third album and boom, her singles started flopping all of a sudden.

Pink is probably done a radio. People are just generally sick of heairng J_Lo on the radio. Avril wil probably have another radio hit in her carrer, it wont be " He Wasn't" though. And Britney's just too cooky to get her songs played. Who's knows when she will come up with another Toxic though

LOL..yup. Pink is indeed in the worst position but she can easily fix that with an amazing first single and a toned down attitude.

I think some people around here are overly pessimitic when talking about an artists' career being over. For example, I don't know how many times on the old R&R boards and on this board that I've heard "Britney Spears' career is over!" Really? No artists' career is ever over, unless their band breaks up or whatever. Some artists continue having hits even after they've died (2 Pac, etc.)! There are so many examples of artists whose careers looked over but came back. A good example is No Doubt. "Return Of Saturn" in 2000 produced only one minor Pop hit. But then came their "Rock Steady" album in 2001, and they've had four Top 5 hits since. Seriously, to even suggest that someone like Avril Lavigne's career is over... Are you crazy? "Under My Skin" is close to 3x platinum. She's had three Top 15 hits from the album. One of them hit # 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40. She's one of the most searched for artists on the internet. Her videos have gotten good airplay. She's been on the cover of a ton of magazines. Her tour performed pretty well. If one were to rank the Top 10 female artists in terms of how their careers are going, Avril would probably make that list. The other artists mentioned in the original post: Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears are two of the top three female artists at this moment (along with Beyonce). To suggest their careers are over is insane! Jennifer Lopez is in the Top 20 right now. And as for Pink, her last album didn't do that well, but she could come back. She has had 7 Top 5 hits already this decade. Really...if Britney's Spears career is over, what artists's career isn't? I guess then that the only artist whose career isn't over is Usher. But, oh my, he hasn't had a # 1 in almost a year. Oh no. His career is definetly over.

All of these girls can bounce back. Even Pink. They're young and capable. All they need is a sure-fire hit and they're back.
