Anyone like a song strictly because of its chorus? Are the verses way too boring or low key to even hum along to? Although it's the overall message of a song and the one thing that sticks to you, it should have a nice balance and flow from verse, chorus, to bridge (if there is one). Alot of pop writers/artists neglect to make decent verses and emphasize way too much on the chorus.
It's usually these types of songs that burn out on me quick and prove to have the least amount of longevity on my charts. Like one example for me is Madonna's "American Life." The chorus sounds really good, but the verses sound like a mess.

The first one that POPS to mind, is JC Dont laugh! The chorus is actually catchy to me-I could see myself dancing to it. The verses are unbearably horrible, so I do not listen to the song at all.

Yes, I agree with the American Life thing. Another good example is Beyonce's "Me, Myself & I" I actually really like the verse of "Me, Myself, and I" but don't really like the chorus. I'm surprised "I'm Like a Bird" did so well, the chorus is good, but th verse completely ruins the song!

Jennifer Lopez "Jenny From The Block"
The writers would've probably skipped the verses if they could've. The 2 verses are like 3 sentences long, the rap is just a time filler, and then you have the chorus which is repeated 10 (ten) times in the whole song. This song was basically built around the chorus.

I agree with the Madonna and Beyonce songs, but not with Nelly Furtado's song, I like the verses, they tie the song together. A song that comes to mind is "With You".

the normal format for a song is 2 verses and then something else, but i don't know what it's called. Can someone tell me what that part of the song is called? I'll use "Crazy In Love" as the example.
Got me lookin, so crazy my baby, lately i'm not myself i've been foolish, i don't do this, iv'e been playin myself, baby i don't care, cause your love's got the best of me, and baby you makin a fool of me....etc.
That's always my favorite part of every song but i don't know what it's called.

Bridge or break? It can be either a whole separate melody or an instrument solo like in "My Immortal (Band Version." This usually is placed towards the end of a song before the finale of the chorus.

"Just Like A Pill" comes into mind. Utter cheesy verses, catchy chorus; no wonder this song was a hit.
