It's been a LONG time since we have heard from Vanessa Carlton. I know that there was a topic about some new music that she was working on, but what's the deal on an upcoming album, single, etc?

From what I heard, the second Vanessa album is going to be much darker and only have ten songs on it.

I'll venture to listen to her. She may have a better and more long-lasting comeback than Michelle.

It's funny I was going to make a topic like this today, I haven't heard any updates about her. I hope she finds some success and can at least get more than 1 big hit. If the album comes out in June then we should be hearing a single in about 2 months.

I have heard some clips from it (well live songs in general) and I would say every live new song she played was better than almost every single song off her last cd.I am guessing this is going to be a definite buy for me She is amazing. I always thought she was more unique/creative than Branch.

The new tracks sound amazing, but I'm very unsure about her having a pop hit. These tracks were very dark sounding.. very different from her dbut.

I'm surprisingly looking forward to it. "A Thousand Miles" and "Ordinary Day" were both really good.

I am very much looking forward to this. Be Not Nobody was an OK album, but to me it had more fillers than standouts. But, I've always thought that her potential was huge and that with maturity and a few years in the music buisness, her inner-Tori would arrive eventually :) I can't wait to see what she comes up with.
I've heard live versions of some of the new songs as well. She Floats is SPECTACULAR. I heard that it closes the album, actually. It would make an amazing closer too.

I didn't like her first couple of singles. (I never bought her cd) but maybe a change will do her good. Anything is better than that bland crap "Ordinary Day"

Anything is better than that bland crap "Ordinary Day" I just liked the way she sang, "Just a day, just an ordinary day." She sounded like a little kid.

If Nelly Furtado couldn't make a great comeback (I consider Michelle's comeback to be an average hit) then I can't see why Vanessa could. She's a great songwriter though, so it would be a shame if she didn't hit it big again.

I like her singles. I was pretty close to buying her debut based on all the hype and acclaim, but I didn't. Oh well.
I love Rinse, one of her darker sounding songss, so, I am very interested in the cd now. Hopefully it will be good.

Anyway, the CD is much different from her singles, much different. The singles are very misleading, most of the songs are artsy, chilling, and deep. Here's a topic with a lot of information... pulsemusic.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=1072588982

She puts me to sleep... I rember when i saw her video for the first time with a friend of mine who is not into music that much. Her immediate responce was - "What is she suppose to be the White Alicia Keys?". That pretty much somes-up my feelings about her. (By the way, my friend is not Black.)

That seems like a stupid remark, imho. Vanessa and Alicia's music have very little in common. Just because both play the piano doesn't mean they're immediately similar.

The white Alicia Keys? Someone wasn't paying attention. I anticipate seeing her darker material.

The new single is now being rumored to be called Morning Sting which people say sounded amazing (she played it live once in a special dvd taping). Apparently everyone will be able to hear the song "soon" I hate those fans who have heard it already

She was going to have it be "Private Radio" until she wrote "White Houses."

Are you sure? The buzz all over her official board was that she announced it to be Morning Sting....and that White Houses was said to be single material but not first single material.

I don't know where she got that info from but right now, I'm just going to wait until Vanessa confirms herself what the first single is going to be.

Oh ok, I thought she herself had said that from the way the fans were acting.

Wow, I've never heard of a Vanessa Carlton song, entitled "Is She Coming Back". Is it as good as "Pretty Baby"?

I don't like Vanessa Carlton as a person, shes stupid. I remember she made a really stupid comment on TRL. She said that she was dating Britney Spears just to get everyones attention because nobody was asking her anything.
Her music(which is just OK) doesn't bother me that much.
