How do you think this album will do overall? I'll say she'll got 4x platnium, with again 4 singles. I think she'll got top 5 and possibly #1 with "Don't Tell Me." Her 2nd single will do well too, especially if it's "Daydream," I'll predict that it too will go top 5, if it's "Daydream" then #1. She will release a 3rd single later in the fall and without knowing what it is I'm going to say a peak of #12, then the 4th single will peak around #15. The first 3 singles will kind of be like "The Spirit Room" only the 1st single will do a bit better. If she makes good choices I think she will still be able to get a few #1's off of this album, if not, maybe will see a repeat of what is currently happening to Michelle Branch.

I agree with you.
"Let Go" was much much bigger than "The Spirit Room" so I definitely don't see the same thing happening... likely the new album won't do as well as the first but I'm sure it'll sell 3 million in the US alone quite comfortably... and probably then some.

I think it's definitely going to have a lot of success. Whether it'll be as much as Let Go, only time will tell. Don't Tell Me is off to a good start. And after hearing both Daydream and Take Me Away, I have a feeling that there will be lots of single choices. Avril is all about a catchy hook and chorus, so Under My Skin will be full of them.

This album will hit platinum 2 weeks after it comes out. I think it'll hit 5 times platinum.

Overall sales: 4 million First-week sales: 350,000
Singles would all hit the Top 20, some Top 5.
"Don't Tell Me" is already #3 Most Requested in Boston!

Agree. If I were Avril I would push the virginity message of the first single and get the Christians to support her album. If they can get Mel Gibson $117 million, they get get Avril a million in opening week sales.

What does Christianity have to do with Avril Lavigne?Β You probably would have asked the same thing about Mel Gibson two years ago. My point is she can push the abstinance message out there, and have preachers tell people to buy her album and have them promote the album. Just an idea.

The Christianity message probably won't work with Avril. Not when she has video of her on her DVD drinking alcohol at 19. I realize that it's legal in Canada to drink at 18 but it doesn't set a good example. Although pushing the abstenence message might be a good idea but I can't hear preachers saying listen to Avril in their sermon. Avril is no Stacie Orrico.

I can't tell whether you're being sarcastic, but as Aerometis said, she's no Stacie Orrico. I suppose one alternative is to get all skanky to get middle-aged balding men to buy her album and/or appeal to the gay crowd, but if she does this, well, I'll lose all respect for her.

Avril will in no way sell more than 3 million copies on this album. No way. Are you saying that cuz you're freaked out that she might beat Christina? If so, you've just jinxed it! Now she might sell 4 mil... :((trust me, I don't want her to either)

People who were into Avril two years ago are not going to be into her now... artists like Avril quickly become uncool. Her reputation for being bratty and manufactured doesn't help either. I say she'll be lucky if she can sell 2 million.

I predict it will sell les than her debut and more than Christina's album! There's no way. First of all, I'm sure everyone in Europe is sick of Avril by now.

The songs that have made their way to the internet have been getting a lot of mixed reviews, even by some of the people that really like her. I am not enjoying her new music at all, and i loved her music from "Let Go". I think radio will play her first single because it's Avril, but after that, well...we'll see. I did predicted a #1 for "Don't Tell Me" and now i sort of regret it.
Why are people saying "I think it will sell less/more than Christina's album"? What does Christina have to do with this? Why can't we say "I think her album will sell more than :inserts random singer: Macy Gray's latest album?"

I agree, but I use to think she was cool, I don't anymore, but I'm still going to buy her album because she makes great music, that's all that should count!

I think Avril is getting cooler. She was a bitch before but I think she might be more approachable now. We'll find out soon, I guess.

Why can't we say "I think her album will sell more than :inserts random singer: Macy Gray's latest album?" Two points: 1. Many people after hearing advance copies of Infatuation and Fighter, who were hard core Xtina fans hated the material. And, she still managed to sell 3.5 MM units in the U.S., so your logic is flawed. 2. We use Christina because she is the most recent female POP artist to have completed a full project (that did not flop). So, she is the current benchmark. As Pink and Avril's first album's were for Stripped.

Honestly...I dont know. I do not see this easily scanning four million. Maybe just because her music is just not clicking with me. I loved every single one of her last singles and now the three the new songs I have heard now are kind of...dull. I just cant see her pulling out 3-4 hits that she will need to to have the longetivity to sell 4-5 million cds. Maybe I am completely wrong and she will sell that much, but at the moment I am saying 2.5 millionish.

I heard this album will be more heavy and less Pop and radio friendly than Let Go, here are my predictions:
First Week: 500,000 Overall: 2.75 million

Once again, I agree with The Max. With the right approach, I could definitly see people going all over Avril again. She has no competition and she has a good 1st single.
