Ryan Seacrest has certainly been a rapidly growing presence on the airwaves, both in taking over hosting duties of the AT40 and with his new syndicated program "On The Air"
However, some have felt rejected with Casey Kasam's departure, the legendary host of the AT40, who some considered "the holy voice of the countdown"
Do you think Ryan Seacrest has changed AT40 for the better or for the worse?
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

It wouldn't be so bad if he just got rid of the freaking recurrent songs! That way, it would be a lot more fun to compare his charts to the R&R charts. Another thing - many songs that do well on R&R chart low on his show (I can't say I like the way he totally ignored "Bright Lights" by Matchbox Twenty).

Do you think Ryan Seacrest has changed AT40 for the better or for the worse? I don't think it's fair to blame Ryan for all the changes to AT40. Most (if not all) of the decisions about the show's format were made by the higher-ups at Premiere. Given that, I think the changes suck. As I've stated before, I feel Ryan did a great job when he guest-hosted for Casey, following the standard format but injecting a few adlib lines here and there. I don't think any host could make the new AT40 sound good.

Ryan Seacrest sucks. He isn't even funny. I don't see why people like him anyway. He has no charisma, he tries too hard to be funny, he is conceited, and just plain annoying. "On Air..." deserves to be canceled, and the reason sometimes i don't watch "America Idol" is because of his annoying voice.

The changes on AT40 seem to lack direction. They try something new every couple of weeks. This is not a good way to attain long time listeners.
The biggest change I dislike is the research information. It seems to be rushed production relying too much on interviews and a lot of no-nuthin's. Where's the meat & potatoes?
Ryan needs to work on rate-of-delivery. His pacing doesn't match the material, especially when telling a joke. I know the idea is to create a "live show" feel. However, he really should listen to Damien's pacing on TRL weekend countdown. This pacing problem is also present on his TV show. He stops talking without reason when going to the next point.
He really should take some acting classes & do some stand-up comedy if he wants a long career.
Also, he needs to polish those interview skills. With time, he probably will improve or fail as his haters believe. He's a raw talent with a lot of room for improvement.

I don't even listen to AT40 anymore because of all the changes. It was like a spit in the face for the long time listeners with all the changes done like that.

I don't think he's a bad host on American Idol, but he does get annoying sometimes.

I caught a little of AT 40 last week. The show is ok, and Casey should have probably retired, but I've had enough of Ryan Seacrest. How is it he manages to do the KIIS morning show, AT 40, American Idol, his own syndicated show, and who knows what else. He looks like he's had 8 cups of coffee, overtired, sloppy and he needs to shave. Or just do only one or two things instead of enough to keep him busy 85 hours a week. Sorry....I know this topic is about AT 40 changes, but Ryan is overexposed and should stop doing so much. In fact, I wouldn't mind if he just got off TV and radio altogether.

While he lacks refinement, he has a definite "radio personality" quality about him. If it weren't for the ridiculous joke of a format the AT40 is, he would be doing a good job. I think they should have stuck to the old format when they switched hosts, and then gradually implemented the changes that they wanted over time. Instead, Ryan is getting blamed for the show format simply because the changes took place at the same time the show changed hosts.

I only listened to a short segment of the show while traveling a couple of months ago, but from what I had heard, I didn't like it. And I don't find Seacrap all that impressive as an on-air personality, either. I listened to him a couple of times when he was Star 98.7 in Los Angeles and he didn't do anything for me. I wonder who he slept with to get that gig.

I was listening to a tape the other day and I had a little piece where Casey talked, Casey's voice fits the show 100% better than Ryan's. I think they shold have stayed with the R&R chart, who wants to hear recurrents all the time? With all those recurrents half of the songs on R&R that peaked below 25 peak in th3 30s, and some don't even enter the chart, and if they do it's for only 2 or 3 weeks!!!!
They could have at lest let Edd McMan(spelling ???)

I was listening to a tape the other day and I had a thing on it where Casey was talking, I think Casey's voice was perfect for the show, but Ryan's I hate it. Edd McMan's (spelling ???) voice fits the show so much better!
I don't like how they changed all the music >:(
and finally I wish they would have kept using the R&R chart, who won't to hear recurrents all the time, after 30 weeks, PLEASE TAKE THE SONG OF THE AIR!!!!!!!!!!!

I have only listened to AT40 once since Ryan took over and I was shocked when I heard "In Da Club" and "Shake Ya Tailfeather" but than I remembered they got rid of the recurrent rule. I don't think it is that big of a deal. The countdown never had a reurrent rule until the mid to late 90's. So it is kinda like returning to tradition. But that being said I won't listen because Casey was the show

He is one of the most annoying people in the entertainment business. Of course he is, he's got like 198,348,398,348 different shows ok so I'm exaggerating...just a little.
