I think that "In Da Club" was the bigger hit of the two. Despite the fact that "UnWell" was clearly the better song, IDC was everywhere and is more memorable.

I would have to say "In Da Club" was the bigger of the two.

2003 will be remembered for "In Da Club" in the same way that 1990 is remembered for "Ice Ice Baby". "Oh they listened to that back then!"
Or to give you another analogy, the way people remember the '70's today with amusement: long hair, platform high heels, bell bottoms, wide ties; they will remember this time in a similar bemused way for people piercing and tattooing their whole bodies and listening to 50 Cent, Chingy, Ludacris and Simple Plan.
Songs of 2003 that will stand out longer than either of these 2 songs include "Clocks", "When I'm Gone" and "White Flag", but if I were to choose "the" artist and song of 2003, it would be Evanescence and "Bring Me To Life". This was a new sound, liked by a wide audience, and has the potential to affect the direction of music. And when was the last time that as beautiful a song as "My Immortal" did so well? Artists are afraid these days to put out truly beautiful music unadulterated, but this song shows that it can be successful.

I couldn't have said it better myself. :) I think many people have underestimated BMTL, but when you think about, it definitely brought a different sound and feel to music in 2003. And no, that's not just my very biased opinion. ;) BMTL really was a different sound. I think that people will still remember it 10 years from now, and perhaps MI as well. Now, as to which was the bigger hit: In Da Club is the most recognizable, and I agree about it being the anthem of 2003. Whether it's quality music or not is irrelevant.
