Josh Groban's new album has been out for 17 weeks now and has not once left the Billboard Top 10 and has made itself comfortable in the middle part of the Top 10.
The new album has just been certified 3X Platinum and is #7 this week. Could his album go on to sell as well as Norah's "Come Away With Me"?
I think it has a very good chance.

It depends. His album's going to have a hard time staying in the top 10 with the debuting albums in the next month or so. However, I think he'll stay consistent. If he gets knocked below the top 10, he'll keep coming back up.
That Superbowl performance did more for his career than anything before. His first one is 4X platinum and is #1 on the pop catalog chart. He's going to keep that spot for a little while.

What other albums are selling particularly well in the pop catalogue? "Music Box"? "Baby One More Time"?

To a lesser extent, he probably could.

So if an album is more than 2 years old *like Norah* but still in the top 200 it's still apart of the Billboard Chart and not catalogue? And an album like Kylie's Minogue's "Body Language" which is soon to fall from the top 200 won't be in the catalogue until it's atleast 2 years old even though it's well on it's way out of the top 200?

When I first read this topic's title, I was like HECK NO! Josh Groban is much better vocally than Norah could wish to be. But then I realized that you meant album sales! ;)
I am not that surprised that Josh Groban is selling so well. It is music that appeals to many different types of people. Even though people that listen to pop probably would not want to hear his music on their local pop station, I bet they would love to have the CD to have in the background while doing studying or work. I have his first album and I really like it a lot. I am considering buying Closer because of the first album alone, nevermind "You Raise Me Up" which has really grown on me lately.

I don't think it'll sell as much as "Come Away With Me", nevertheless this is a huge success story worthy of attention.
Norah Jones came out after Josh Groban anyway.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Josh will never have Norah Jones' critical acclaim. Also the elite crowd likes Norah, while they see Josh as a lightweight pop star.
He'll sell close to as many records but never recieve the amount awards Norah does.

I honestly do not think he will have the same staying power Norah seems to have. His sales will be outstanding but I doubt they will beat or even match Norahs
