Another topic got me to thinking about Amy Lee's attitude. It started with her accepting the grammy for Evanescence and saying "I, me" etc a lot. I recognize in many ways the band IS her, but it still sort of bothered me. Her flippant too cool for you attitude is starting to wear thin on me.
Anyone else?

I agree with you. I read the recent article about her in Blender Mag. and it made me like her less. She has a beautiful voice, but her personality is turning me off.

It's JUST NOW starting to wear thin on you? I've thought she has a terrible attitude since I first heard her in an interview. That was back in the days when "Bring Me To Life" was just hitting Alternative. She seemed so convinced that she was better than everyone else. It really doesn't affect my perception of her music though.

Do you remember when they won the Grammy this year for Best New Artist and 50 Cent came up on stage too. She made some brief comment like "oh no, not on our first time" or something like that. Do you remember the exact wording? I thought it sounded presumptuous like she assumed it was their first of many Grammys to come.

"Oh what did I do? This is my first time..." Fans on the band were pissed that night because of that. I think 50 was partially at fault... Had he not walked on the stage, how would you know things wouldn't have turned out different? ____________________________ Having said that, it's pretty obvious that Amy Lee is the most important band member being the lead singer and all. The problem is that some fanatics think that Amy IS the band. And then you're forgetting David Hodges, Ben Moody, John LeCompt, Rocky Gray, Will Boyd, and Terry Balsamo. Terry hasn't played as important a role yet, but the rest of them are about as important as Amy. Amy is very talented on her own, but so are the rest of the boys. Some fans forget that and I would hope that Amy doesn't forget that, too. I've always said that I liked Amy for standing for what she believes in, but at the same time I always thought that her mouth would put the band into fragile situations. Unfortunately, I don't see that changing because in every interview there's always something negative about something or somebody. They've had success, but they haven't been able to enjoy it. At all.

meh, I just think she's wrong in the delivery of her words and the type of tone she uses. She's a classic example of running you mouth before your brain. Amy's inexperienced at this whole fame thing so she just conducts herself in interviews the way she feels is right. That doesn't necessarily mean that's the why she is in real life. Cut her some slack. Some of the things she says pisses me off too, but I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. ;) Plus, Imaginary's right: they haven't really enjoyed their fame up until now. I'm starting to feel sorry for them.

It seems like she's getting a Gwen Stefani complex.

"Oh what did I do? This is my first time..." I don't think that is bad... at all. Then again, I don't know how she said it. Seems to me 50 Cent was the cocky one coming up on stage.

I've always loved her attitude. I'd rather read her interviews, whether I agree or disagree with what she's saying, as opposed to some other band that says all the right things and the same old cliché's just to stay PC. Maybe there's some things she should have kept in her head, since she really has gotten under a lot of peoples' skin with her comments, but not me. I love her.

It seems like she's getting a Gwen Stefani complex. Maybe they need to do a "Don't Speak" song now! ;)

It seems like she's getting a Gwen Stefani complex. Agreed, its like what happened around Tragic Kingdom time ten years ago about. A major member left the band, the band nearly broke up, then released their best album to date. But I don't think Evanescence has a bond nearly as strong as No Doubt's, anywho, for some reason her personality hasn't gotten to me yet, I still like her a lot.

Apparently, aside from airing Cold's dirty laundry for them, I've been blissfully unaware of anything presumptuous or egotistical or ill-advised that she's said.
I guess that would put me somewhere between crash46 and the last line of pkwi's comment.
