There are a lot of international artists that seem to have potential to make it big in the States. I'm going to just throw some names out. If you guys have anything different, feel free to share.
1. Delta Goodrem-After listening to her for the first time, I think that she could very well be worth the hype. Considering she's still 19-20 years old and piano playing abilities, she's got potential for longevity. She's more than just a singer.
2. Lacuna Coil-This band is always mentioned in the same breath as Evanescence. This band had been bouncing around for about 7 years in Italy before breaking it here with Heaven's a Lie. They probably won't have Evanescence-like sales, but they have a nice cult following and should become metal favorites.
3. Joss Stone-UKer who's already done pretty well with "Fell in Love With A Boy". She's got the hype. Only time will tell if she's worth it.
Other names I'll mention but not in-depth include: Will Young Kurt Nilsen-Why not? He WAS the World Idol ;) Busted Sugababes
and I'm sure there are others.
Out of those bottom four artists, I think Busted would have the best chance to make it big.

Utada Hikaru - Signed to Island Def Jam for quite some time now. Featured on "Rush Hour 2" soundtrack.
CoCo Lee - After a costly Stateside crosscover failure, who knows if Sony will continue to support her. She's been working on the 2nd English album for quite some time now... It is scheduled for release in Asia with her feature film debut.

Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian could do well in America.
For his next album he is working with Brian McKnight so that could work out pretty well.
Also, Paulini Curuenavuli, who was a finalist on "Australian Idol" last year, has been signed to Sony Music and has a strong voice and could be marketed in America as a young "Australian Whitney Houston".

Dido became successful in America after collaberating with Eminem.
So maybe Delta Goodrem would be big in America if she played one of 50 Cent's "down ass biatches" in one of his music videos.
LOL.

Haha! :) Well I'm hoping Joss Stone will make a dent. That's real talent right there. She's so young too. The others - Delta Goodrem and Sugababes - might not have as much luck. Especially not the Sugarbabes, they're so processed.

Joss Stone has already started making her impact in the U.S., her album has healthy sales and her video is getting some spins too. :) The Australian Idol winners and finalists I'm wary about.

Jamelia is also trying to cross over. Superstar is her first song going for adds in the States. I haven't heard much else from her other than that strange, yet excellent Linkin Park cover a month or so ago.

Delta Goodrem is releasing her album in America in July so hopefully her first single will be out there soon.... Go to the following link to listen to what will be her first single, "Born to Try", and tell me whether you think it will do well in America: www.deltagoodrem.com/artists/deltagoodrem/audioVideo/home.do"Not Me, Not I" and "Lost Without You" are my other favourite tracks on her album.
