This album is so good. I'm so happy to hear her come back this strong when artists of her age usually do not have great success with comebacks. I will definitely be buying this on May 4.
The rumored second single is "Sometimes Love" which was produced by Babyface. This is seriously the best by both of them in awhile. It's my favorite on the album.
I also think "2 Steps Away" has potential at mainstream adult.
The only real dud here is "Unpredictable" which uses an out of place sample of Nelly Furtado's "Turn Off The Lights".

This is very good, old school R&B focused on vocals.
I think "More Than Material" could have a shot at Mainstream R&B outlets and I actually think the "Turn Off The Lights" sample works well on "Unpredictable", I think it's one of the few songs that could do something outside of Urban AC.
"2 Steps Away" is simply gorgeous.

PATTI LaBELLE Album Title: Timeless Journey Producer(s): various Label/Catalog Number: Def Soul Classics/Def Jam B0002433 Release Date: May 4 Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: May 15, 2004 Since the 2000 release of her last album, "When a Woman Loves," Patti LaBelle has experienced some life changes. She divorced her husband and severed ties with longtime label MCA. Given those circumstances, "Timeless Journey" takes on added poignancy, with a revitalized diva ruling the stage. Lead single "New Day" doubles as LaBelle's new-millennium-styled "New Attitude." The moving ballad "Hear My Cry" compellingly pairs her with Floetry. Producer Babyface weighs in with the noteworthy "Sometimes Love." LaBelle also works with up-and-coming production talent, which results in songs that don't sound forced or compromised. This is especially true of the ballad "Two Steps Away," midtempo charmer "Good Lovin' " and the Celia Cruz-inspired "When You Smile" (featuring Carlos Santana and Sheila E.). With "Timeless Journey," LaBelle proves she can still hang with the best of them.—GM

Here's how I'd rank the songs after having the album almost a week:
1. 2 Steps Away (I cannot get enough of this. Patti gives a heartbreaking vocal performance.) 2. New Day 3. Sometimes Love 4. More Than Material (In the chorus does she sound just like Aretha, or is it me?) 5. Mm, Mm, Mm 6. Unpredictable 7. Not Right But Real 8. Something More 9. Finally Got The Nerve 10. When You Smile 11. It's Time 12. Hear My Cry 13. Good Lovin'
