Who knows exactly how far heaven is, and everyone indeed has their own joie vivre in finding their way there.
But though the Los Lonely Boys still may be far away from heaven, they certainly have found fame: angelic fame.
Their self-titled debut album has already been out for almost nine months now. But after charging onto the Billboard 200 three months ago, "Los Lonely Boys" is now rising high. In its 12th week on the chart, it has surged to #35.
This can be thanked to the suprise success of their lead single "Heaven", an upbeat-tempoed hymn of folk, rock, and blues with a mesquite Latin glaze.
Starting off as a slow-building Triple A selection, it almost went unnoticed. It's longevity helped the single to climb into the Top 20 and go recurrent.
Now, the single has come out of the closet in full force, just about to become a Top 30 CHR/Pop hit with no signs of slowing down, destined to go Top 5 at Hot AC, and at recurrent status on Triple A, has more weekly airplay than ever before.
The Los Lonely Boys themselves may perhaps be shocked by this brushfire of success. The release of a follow-up on Triple A, "Real Emotions", seemed to signify they never expected so much from "Heaven". But the single's reincarnation has kicked dust at this release.
Can Los Lonely Boys be THE IT artist of 2004? Certainly there are other new artists that are worthy of being recognized for this new year, but the Los Lonely Boys' success is perhaps beyond provocative. Without glitz, the glamour, and perhaps just out of sheer dumb luck, these boys may perhaps still feel loney, but they're certainly alone no more on the airwaves.
Who knows exactly what created this mysterious appeal behind this trio. Just keep looking up!
Sincerely,
Noah Eaton
