No, it's not a Breaking Benjamin or Crossfade cover, but they sure do sound like them. Still pretty good. This is from their debut album called The Melody And The Energetic Nature Of Volume, due out February 7th. Funny that they're on Hollywood, which is BB's label.

Alright, I listened to the clip of this, and what came to my mind is how they sound like about 5-10 different bands all in one. I guess its basically like mix A Perfect Circle/Taproot/Cold/etc together and this is what you get. Since all those bands listed above have done well on Alt. and AR, I can't see how this won't follow their same success.

Eh, it does sound like those aftermentioned bands. But I hear more Chevelle in this.

I guess I hear Chevelle in the vocals, but not the music. That's definitely similar to Crossfade. Actually, now that I think about it, it also reminds me of Strata.

It instantly reminded me of Chevelle when the singer sort of "breath-sang" the words. It's nothing highly original at the moment, but I still like it.

These guys are touring with Taproot and From Satellite in the spring. I'm going to see them at The Knitting Factory on April 5th. I'm excited :)

When I read awhile back that they'd be opening for Taproot, I thought, "Why am I not surprised?"

The name of their album is "The Melody And The Energetic Nature of Volume". Cool title. :)
I still don't like this song though.

Every time I listen to this song, it reminds me of a new band. First couple listens, it was Chevelle. Then, it was Crossfade. Now, it's Breaking Benjamin.
Looking at that album title, I believe Matisyn (is that his name?) tried too hard. He's trying to perfect his music to the point where it just seems overdone and predictable. I'll give him props for trying though, but this just sounds like too many other bands. Not that I will crucify this song, but I don't see this going above #30, and it already seems to have lost its bullet.

My immediate thought was that, while it's halfway decent, Chevelle couldn't have made more of a Chevelle song if they tried. But I'm clearly not introducing anything new to this discussion by saying that.

They just changed their drummer. As a matter of fact, at the Knitting Factory show a couple of weeks ago, they had a drummer play half of their set which was half acoustic/half electric.
They'll soon be headlining their own tour later in the year.

The new drummer used to be in the band Dogfight. A relatively good fit for them, in my opinion.

Jesus. That's a long time to wait. I'll bet it's Beg though, just because that seems like a perfect single choice. Either that or their cover of Sarah McLachlan's Posession, which is a really odd choice for a nu-metal band, but they really make it work, I think. A Cross And A Girl Named Blessed could also work in a pinch.

I think it's a perfect song to cover for a band who wants to show the depth of their influences; to be taken more seriously as musicians. It's the perfect Sarah song for a brooding rock band to cover, anyway. "Cold" only grew to "decent" with me, but I'd love to hear (a band like) them cover "Possession." It's a little too early for them to release something just yet, but July seems way too long to wait. We'll have to wait and see how the timing starts to feel over the next few weeks.

Well, if you think about it, July isn't that long of a wait. It's about two months away, with "Cold" still standing very stable on all rock formats (-7 or so on alternative as of Sunday), and it's spent about 17 weeks or so on the chart. It is turning out to be quite a minor hit, and they are probably waiting for it to complete an anticipated long run before delving in on a second single. Some stations will probably add the new one several weeks before the official adds date anyway, so it's not that long considering longevity is clearly what they are going for here.

Whoa, I'll have to find that one.
Edit: Ehh... it sounds like Evans Blue covering a Sarah McLachlan song -- it doesn't work all that well. It'd have been better if he hadn't e-nun-ci-a-ted-ev-er-y-syll-a-ble during the bridge. That was almost cringeworthy.

Why isn't this recurrent? It's been unbulleted for weeks and this is its 21st on the chart. This isn't a HIM, 10 Years, 311, or Jack Johnson situation, despite what their record company may think. (Maybe it is a mistake...)

Honestly, I've been ready for this sucker to go for weeks. It's just so nauseatingly stereotypical Chevelle that I always change the station when it comes on. (And I like Chevelle.) I wonder what their next single will sound like, if it will be any better (I'm not holding my breath).

It's gone now, but it cost Rinocerose a top 50 hit in its bonus week. That and Placebo were tied in spins and "Infra-red" won the tiebreaker. "Cubicle" is probably not coming back.
I thought this song was ridiculous at first, but now, it's not so bad.

I think the point is that they're already on the 3rd single, while this being the 1st and coming out quite a long time ago (hell penance created this topic over a year ago), it is also the only one that happened to make any noise on the charts. Man, I'm great at run-on sentences.

As weird as it might sound, I liked "Over" more than this song.
