I was thinking that too because there really aren't any other female artists out there doing that well on radio except for Jessica Simpson and maybe Avril. I think this year Britney could take it

Well, so far I would say it's Jessica Simpson since "With You" has more spins this year than "Toxic" and is getting more spins now (and that's not counting "With You"s 2003 spins). Also, "Take My Breath Away" has gotten more spins than "Everytime" but "Everytime" will surely end up with more overall for the year and has already outpeaked "TMBA." So Jessica has gotten more spins so far this year than Britney, but Britney will probably take over by the end of the year (depending of course on how each of their new singles do).

So far, Britney. Avril has six months to get two hits.

I'll go with Britney. We'll have to see how "Angels" and "Outrageous" do.

Obviously Britney Spears. Although if you consider the past 12 months (July 03 - June 04) then it's Beyonce.

Britney is clearly way above Jessica in terms of originality, quality, and variety of music she's put out this year. She's surprised me. Actually, Jessica's success this year surprises me, but the quality of her music is no better than it has ever been.
I definitely agree it would be Beyonce over the past 12 months.

Jessica's just released 2 covers in a row on pop radio. I can't think of the last artist who did that.

Surprisingly enough Britney Spears.
In 2003 it was Christina and 2004 seems to be Britney's year. Pop divas sharing the spotlight! ;)
My personal favorite pop female this year is Jessica Simpson. Granted, she may have released two remakes in a row, but I still find her songs to be very enjoyable. Her TMBA is one of my favorites of this year actually.
Maybe 2005 will be Mandy Moore's year, LOL!

I think Alicia Keys and Jessica Simpson were the most successfull females this year. They have had hit singles, and their albums sold tons durring the 2004 calendar year.

"Take My Breath Away" peaked at #8
Also, lets say JoJo's second single goes to #1 in October, wouldn't her two number one smashes be better than Britney's 1,4, and... (15?)?

Jessica's just released 2 covers in a row on pop radio. I can't think of the last artist who did that. DJ Sammy - "Heaven" and "Boys of Summer". The latter did not chart, but I'm pretty sure it was "released" (as in, promoted and had an adds date) to pop radio. Mandy Moore may have released two covers in a row to pop radio as well. I wasn't keeping track of which singles she released. For the last artist to have 2 covers in a row both chart, you'd probably have to go back to UB40 as mst3k said. "Here I Am (Come And Take Me)" and "Can't Help Falling In Love" charted consecutively on Pop, though they were two years apart and not from the same album.
