Christina Milian has a huge pop hit right now and had respectable 1st week sales for her first album despite her lack of promotion. After the album came up the song started blowin gup even hotter. How come they still have not put any promotion into her or her album She has only made about 3 televised U.S. appearances and 2 of them were on MTV (neither were TRL).
I read an article about how she had to call the label and fuss and cuss with them seevral times to get her album released. She talked about how she didnt understand why Ashanti had 2 album sout under that label and she had none out in the U.S.
Why do u think after the success of her single "dip it low" they still have not put any support her way? If she wereon a label like Jive she could be the r&b versino of Britney Spears with a song like "dip it low." And her album is full of potential singles if they support her! What do u think the deal is? She has proven that she is marketable in the U.S. not just Europe and that she can have more than 1 hit! Why are they not doing all they can to get her seen and noticed more?

What would you have them do?
I think she's been promoted fine. It's a miracle she has another hit at all.

She's definitely had plenty of promotion, that's why people know who she is. In that light, her albums sales are actually really disappointing, although the single IS blowing up.

Yeah she's lucky that Dip It Low is doing as well as it is. After AM To PM, I was convinced she'd be a one hit wonder.

Ugh, BlueNote, no offense but could you please work on your spelling? The album has sold over 117,000 copies in its first three weeks, which is decent, however they should immediately release a second single to keep sales alive and respectable.

The only reason people know who she is was that "dip it low" blew up. but even with a hit single she stilll hasnt had a decent amount of promotion. She hosted direct effect 2 weeks b4 her album came out. she did TRL Beach house a week before her album came out, she was at the very end of an episode of Ryan Secrest with no interview a week b4 her album dropped, and she did Pepsi Smash the week after her album came out. Thats 4 televised appearances. Thats nothing! She did no televised appearances the wek her album came out and she hasnt done ANYTHING since Pepsi smash. she has done NO interviews, no late show appearances and there are how many late shows on tv now? 7 or 8? and she has not been on 1. Her only real promotion i the fact that she has a hit but Def Jam hasnt promoted her the way they did Ashanti when she first came out or anyone else for that matter. A new artist needs more promotion than a veteran with an established fan base. And 4 appearances is not anything. They didnt even get her on 106 and park as a "new joint" and even Christina Aguliera premiered her video on there!

Yeah she's lucky that Dip It Low is doing as well as it is. why is she lucky? the song is good and people like it. its catchy and a hot song. If u have a good song its not luck, you just have material people like and want to hear. she was not given a chance after "am to pm" to even try and release material. She's definitely had plenty of promotion, that's why people know who she is. In that light, her albums sales are actually really disappointing, although the single IS blowing up. people know who she is because she has a hit but 4 tv appearances within 4 weeks of each other is not good promotion at all.

She just needs to release something specifically for the Urban crowd ..... Highway or P&J would be good choices for to get Urban support in addition to pop radio support.

There are SO MANY songs that are wonderful and very commercial but fail to ignite any sort of heat on radio. Christina got lucky, the timing was right.

So, basically they didn't get her on enough TV shows?
As far as not spending as much money as they did on Ashanti, I can't say I blame them. Why blow all that money on someone whose last few singles all flopped and who didn't even get her last album released. They probably weren't expecting "Dip It Low" to do as well as it did. It would have been stupid of them to blow a ton of money on someone who they'd wasted tons of time on before, but not seen any results.

No1 said spend tons of money in promotion b4 they know if she will be successful or not. What i'm sayin is, now that she is doin well and people know who she is, why not spend money to promote her better? I could see if "dip it low" wasnt a hit but it is. I think she has proven that she cane get a hit and people are interested in her, so why not do more to make her a bigger star? I thought labels were in the business of making money and making stars. And as far as Ashanti goes no1 knew what she would do before "foolish" took off. Ashanti and Christina were both on hit Ja Rule songs singing hooks. So if they took a chance on 1 Ja rule feature artist, why not Christina? She is really trying to be successful on her own. She is doing films. She was in "love dont cost a thing" "Torque" and now she will be in the sequal to get shorty with Andre 3000. She has unlimited potential but i guess she will just have to become successful on her own through other projects because her label isnt putting in much effort. She hasnt been anywhere since her album dropped. its a shame.

I kind of agree with BlueNote on this one.

I kind of agree with BlueNote on this one. How could anyone not? She will have a top 10 hit on the Hot 100 next week, was the greatest gainer in airplay this week, and she hasnt even been on television since her album came out over 3 weeks ago.
