Back about 1.5 - 3 years ago, a lot of bands with "The" before their name started becoming a craze in music (again), being seen as a breath of fresh air in a climate filled with multi-million dollar acts. Anywho, what's your favorite "The" band, and why? Mine are The White Stripes, followed up by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs & The Vines.

The White Stripes, my second favorite band of all-time (VAST is the only artist I like more). Even just listening to it once, I immediately caught the hooks on White Blood Cells. It didn't take that long to become one of my favorite albums ever, and now it's still in the top 10 of that. They have a lot of variety in their songs, and are a lot of fun. I'm more exposed to them than The Hives, and they are also more diverse than that. I later heard De Stijl, which there was some songs I didn't get into at first, but I loved how it had more of a blues feel than any Stripes album, and now it's my favorite of theirs, only behind VAST's Nude as my favorite album of all-time. I also like the other two albums, although they aren't quite like the ones I mentioned. Other faves of mine: The Hives recent Strokes stuff (I think it's less bland than the first album) The The (well, I know it's a completely diff. genre, but every time I heard about that, I would joke to myself, "The The would be huge if there was an album out during this era. Especially if it were The Thes.") If you count Interpol who are similar in style, they'd be on this list too. I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs just fine. Why are those ur favorites, pkwi?

Sorry, I wasn't just limiting the options to the bands I named. First off, I don't know if I ever stated this, but my name is Parker, if you all feel like calling me that. Anywho, I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs b/c of their New York Art Rock genre of music, and also their level of commitment to the music, genuinity, and refusal to sell out and keeping the music on their terms. As for The White Stripes & The Vines, I like them both for all the same reasons I stated for YYY, except for the genre type being different and all.

The White Stripes no contest.
However, The Grateful Dead, The Kinks, The Cure and The Clash best them for all-time "the" best bands.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

- The Strokes (the first album is great... the second is just an album) of the THE bands (when we are talking about the wave of the last years)
other all-time great "The" bands: - The Clash - The Cranberries - The Offspring (until Americana) - The Beatles - The Smiths ...

I was speaking only of the recent wave. If you want to talk about all "the" bands then the following
The Beatles The Who The Rolling Stones The Kinks The Animals The Replacements The Clash
Are probably my favorites
