Alright, I've bitched enough about the lack of action in this forum, so I'm going to try to stir up some conversation here with some general topics. This first one will be about morning shows. Discuss the morning shows in your market, which one is your favorite, what do you like about them - morning radio in general.
The thing about morning radio in Savannah is so many of the shows are syndicated.
.: Kidd Kraddick on 97-3 KissFM .: Bob & Sheri on Z102 .: Doug Banks on E93 .: Russ Parr on 94.1 The Beat .: Tom Joyner on Love 101.1 .: John Boy & Billy on I-95 .: Lex & Terry on Rock 106-1
Really, I'm not so huge on morning radio in general, but lately I've been checking out Kidd (since my alarm is set to Kiss) and they're doing a pretty good job. They don't play a lot of music, which sucks, but I've heard one feature in particular that cracks me the hell up - The Mommy Test. Basically, Kidd alters his voice to become "Pooladsanj Pooladsanj" and they test Kellie with various Mommy duties, e.g., explaining what "Goodies" are, helping a hurt and screaming Pooladsanj, Pooladsanj calling a florist for Valentine's Day, etc...it's hilarious. Their "Flush the Format" feature, where they play random music for 20 minutes, is pretty fun & since I wake up to it every Friday, it's a good start to my day.

We have a mix of morning shows that are live and syndicated around here. Most of them suck because a) they sound like they are talking just to hear their heads rattle and b) they don't play enough music.
I like humor just as much as everyone else... along with some news, weather, sports, and traffic, but if you are just talking to talk... bring on the music!

Morning shows around here are average. Most stations are local. There are a few syndicated shows, like Tom Joyner, Russ Parr, Doug Banks and John Boy & Billy. Jack FM has no jocks. The best morning shows here are Tom Joyner, Bob & Bender of WYOY and Chuck Stinson and Doug Colson of WJDX.

In the San Francisco market there are some decent shows. I'll only mention the ones I listen to occasionally. I have classes during that time, so I don't listen that often.
There's the long-running show The Doghouse on Wild 94.9. Elvis, JV, and Hollywood have held down the morning shift for almost 10 years. Despite some controversies and stuff, the show has been pretty good. 5:30 till 10am. They have prank calls, a mixshow, interviews, and some news and weather. Very little music.
Then there's Sarah & No Name on Alice 97.3. Their show is okay sometimes, but usually I just want to throw random objects at the radio when they are on. The most interesting thing they have done recently was talk about Sarah's sex toys, and that was like 2 years ago!
Also, there's Don Bleu in the mornings on Star 101.3. I don't know how long he has been on. His show is good.
And finally, there's Howard Stern. Okay, it's syndicated, but it's on. I have not listened in ages. To my knowledge, Live 105 carries it still.
Energy 92.7 has Fernando Ventura in the mornings. He just plays music and stuff and pops up every so often. I need to wake up earlier to hear it.

Tiny Tadani, morning personality at KUMU-FM. (far left) Musician Jake Shimabukuro is the fellow wearing the green shirt. The morning show is seen Monday thru Friday 7-8 AM on OC16.

Don Bleu passed away two weeks ago, so you must be listening pre-recorded material, according to a cover story in last week's issue of R&R.

My favorite Clear Channel morning show to hate is Lanai & Augie at KDNN Island 98.5. I just hate that they have to plaster themselves on TV with their commercials.

Don Bleu passed away two weeks ago, so you must be listening pre-recorded material, according to a cover story in last week's issue of R&R. I wasn't aware of that. I had not listened to Star 101.3 in ages so I didn't know. :'(They have been showing the Don Bleu ads on TV, and it was Dr. Don Rose who died a few weeks ago. When I saw the ad, I thought it didn't make sense for them to air ads for a show that may no longer be on. Then I went to Radio-Info and noticed that there was the thread on Don Rose.
