Usher's current album "Confessions" is still in the Top 10 after sveral months and has sold 5.6 million across America now.
How much do you think this album will sell in America altogether?
P.S. When is the "My Boo" single coming out and more importantly when is his re-issued album being released because I'm not going to buy his album until that re-issue comes out.

With the rerelease, the album easily gets to 7x platinum, beyond that, I'm not sure. Are there going to be any additional new tracks on the re-release? And will any of them be single worthy? I'm sure a 5th single would do decently, but will it be enough to really keep the album selling well? This album has had great longevity in today's marketplace and could stick around in the top half of the top 200 album charts at least through the end of the year and a couple of months into the new year. I don't know when the re-release is coming out, but you have to keep in mind it will likely help cash in on the holiday sales rush.
The more I think about it, the more I think Usher might be able to reach diamond status!

Well 7 is an easy number for him-with the rerelease and probably heavy Christmas sales...I think that 8-9 is quite likely. 10 million? We will see. Its a very good possibility however.

His career will be dead by the time he hits 10 million.

No way the album hits diamond. I mean, it would have to sell almost twice as much as it has, and the days of singles from the album are running out.

it won't do less than 7 in the initial run, maybe 8. the next album will at least do a few million, a drop off more than that would be really strange... yea i can see it going diamond eventually.

The re-issue is pretty cheap in my opinion. I hope people don't fall for that crap.

If we still had a decent singles market in the U.S., "My Boo" would be released that way instead of ripping off the fans with a re-issue. Thank God for iTunes.

Yes, he's sold 5.4 million in 23 weeks, but he has all of eternity to sell another 4.6 million through Soundscan sales and (don't forget) record clubs.

Plus I am sure that the holidays and the the rerelease should give him substantial bumps in sales...as well as his new single...

How much has Usher shipped by now? And yeah, record clubs cann add another 1-3 million to that.

I'm assuming the shipment and sales numbers approach each other as time passes (after discounting record clubs). Only when an album is new does a store have hundreds of unsold copies lining its shelves.

I can think of so many albums that were certified for like, 2 million more than they sold Where are those 2 million if not in stores? Do they sit in storage? Thats kind of stupid.

Some are probably in the warehouses of Columbia House and the other record clubs. Is Confessions being sold by them yet, or are they going to maximize Soundscan sales before going there?

Sales through www.bmgmusicservice.com ("12 CDs for the price of 1!") and www.columbiahouse.com ("17 for 5!") don't count towards Soundscan sales but are counted as shipments to stores by the RIAA (rightfully so, imho.)
