What the hell happened to them?
I loved their first album in 2001.

What the hell happened to them? I loved their first album in 2001. As I recall, their last release was the Steal This Album EP. "Innervision" underperformed at #12, and nothing following charted.

That's their actual first album, self-titled, from 1998. I don't know when they're due for a new disc; I thought I heard they were set for a 2005 release, but you can go pick up the self-titled album while you wait.

The self titled cd and Toxicity are great listening.
2005 will be the year for new SOAD.
Right now their lead singer Serj is doing his thing with Tom Morello in the Axis Of Justice music/politics organization.

As far as I know, the new album is still slated for a December release.

I can't wait for new System Of A Down. They are one of my very favorite bands. They are so unique and full of intensity.
"Steal This Album" I think is under-rated. In my opinion, it's as good as "Toxicity". They could have had a lot more hits from that album had they released more than the one single.

The whole album can be as great as "Toxicity", but it doesn't have hit singles like "Chop suey", "Aerials" or "Toxicity"

Actually I think the controversy (provided mostly by the video they shot for it) is the reason why "Boom!" came anywhere close to becoming a hit. The reason it missed the chart is because it was on a split bill with "IEAIAIO", which also missed the chart, by one spot.
